  Great location to the town too, only a few minutes walk to 4 or 5 pubs and many lovely restaurants and takeaways. Walton house cottage is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and has everything you could ever need for a very comfortable stay. They have thought of everything and have lots of nice little extra touches like dressing gowns and slippers. We were made very welcome by the lovely owners who went above and beyond, one evening even collecting a Chinese take away for us. ❤️ We would thoroughly recommend Walton house cottage and will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely trip. Xx

• "Such a beautiful property!"

  Unfortunately within minutes of arriving I had to leave my partner there and drive 5 hours to my parents as my Mother was taken seriously unwell. Without a car at the property, the owners offered and took my partner to the station the next day so that he could make his way home. Thank you so much for your help! It is very much appreciated. I hope that we get to stay with you again in the future.

• "14th-21st June 2024 We can not find any faults at all with this cottage."

  It’s beautiful, spacious, comfortable and so clean. Spectacular views, and the friendly donkeys Snuggles and Humphrey were a joy to see over the fence every morning. Several pubs in walking distance, and plenty to see and do in the area. We went to Matlock, Bakewell, Holmfirth Vineyard for a tour, wine tasting and afternoon tea, and a beautiful place called Ashford in the water, where we had a lovely lunch. Lots of photo opportunities to be had in all these places. We met Christina the owner who was just lovely and while she went on holiday with her family, her Mum and Dad were on hand should we of had any issues (which we didn’t).   This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful yet convenient location (a 10 min walk to numerous pubs, restaurants & shops). The cottage is very well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The owners could not have been more helpful prior to arrival and during our visit. We highly recommend this property. Lots to see and do nearby, variety of walks as well as spa towns and Chatsworth House.

  Really impressed with the extras provided:- dressing gowns, slippers, lots of towels and kitchen extras - coffee machine and pods, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and dishwasher and washing machine. The bottle of prosecco was much appreciated when relaxing in the hot tub! Spotlessly clean with lovely decor and very comfortable bed. Beautiful views from the lounge and friendly donkeys in the field to top it all off.

  Everything you need from the bedroom to the kitchen is available for a relaxing break. The cottage is lovely and warm and easily fought off Storms Elin and Fergus while we were there. The hot tub is just outside the cottage and was a joy on returning from a walk and meal in town. All in all a fabulous location and fantastic accommodation for a relaxing break.

• "Wow! What a find this was."

  The cottage was spotless and the owners clearly care about making sure that you have a real home from home experience. Normally there is one thing that you had hoped could have been better. In this case there really wasn’t anything the owners could have done as they were one step ahead of us. The hot tub finished off a long day of walking with endless towels of good quality may I add, the shower was lush! The cottage comes with everything you need to whip up a meal including a fab oven. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, warm and we never wanted to leave, the bed was comfy and large and for once a cottage that has a plug near a mirror ohhh and a dressing table. Everything was just superb and the hosts were ace! You have two donkeys snuggles and Humphrey and also Leo the cat! I literally cried because I didn’t want to go home, the first time after a holiday that this had happened. We were super impressed with the welcome gifts, dressing gowns for you to use whilst you stay and slippers( we took our own though) if you haven’t guessed we loved it, and we will be back. All of the reviews earlier guests have left all mirror mine. You will not be disappointed by this cottage it is the best cottage in the Peaks. Thank you Christina and Austin for our amazing stay we look forward to our next stay with you x

The bathroom was well equipped with plenty of towels for a weeks stay. The bed was so comfortable. And the view from the upstairs lounge was just lovely. The hot tub was wonderful. We had the most wonderful stay here and would highly recommend.

  Beautiful views and lovely walks. But the best bit of the holiday was Walton House Cottage. After a long day walking a nice hot shower and then a long soak in the hot tub looking out at the Beautiful views and breathing in the cool fresh air. Amazing! We felt like it was a home from home. It was so clean and had everything you needed. It is decorated perfectly looks like it was built a week ago. So relaxing and comfortable that it felt like we took our home to the stunning views of the Derbyshire countryside. Thanks you so much for such a lovely holiday.

• "From the moment we entered this stunning property, we knew it was going to be a fantastic week."

  It was spotlessly clean and a lot of thought had gone into decorating the cottage. The kitchen was adequately stocked with all the utensils you would need; which led into an open plan dining area and sitting area. Upstairs was a comfortable living room, which had extensive views of the surrounding area. The bed room was a generous size with 2 velux windows to see the sunrise and sunset. Outside was a fabulous hot tub which was used daily. The town itself had lots of cafes/restaurants/pubs. We throughly enjoyed The Old Cell Ale House, kouros, Rems, Pug and Pudding and Vecchias. Christina and Austin were great hosts and we even had a daily visit from their donkeys!

  It is located in a lovely area and has lots of lovely walks to go on in the Peak District and just locally. The property itself is spotless, spacious and very well laid out. The owners are very nice people who are attentive to your needs but respectful of your need for privacy.   During this time we have stayed in many different establishments, all of them really good and most of them different. We have to say that this visit for lots of reasons outshines them all. The cottage was magnificent throughout, not a single fault. However the help and hospitality of Christina and Austin was outstanding. They should be proud of what they have done. We are definitely returning. Absolutely superb in every way.

  The Hot tub was a very welcome retreat at the end of a long day to just relax And take in the views, we also appreciated the animals and Snuggles the donkey who is quite a character. • "Our stay at Walton Cottage was magical."

  We had just got married and it was our English Honeymoon, it certainly did not disappoint. We were greeted by a warm, beautifully decorated property; plus a chilled bottle of Champagne which was a lovely touch. The cottage was cosy and had all of the required amenities for a perfect week (lots of soft towels, all necessary kitchen implements, great Wifi, robes and slippers etc). The well-stocked basket in the kitchen with Tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and other bits was a lovely thought also. The animals (Betty, Ted, Chris and Snuggles) made the holiday so special as it was an added bonus to see them each day, my wife had many chats with them. The view is gorgeous, especially from the hot tub and upstairs living room with the large welcoming window. Christina and Austin, offer the most stunning accommodation for you to have a relaxing break away and they maintain friendly and polite communication, which we really appreciated. I’d highly recommend the property and local area for anyone wanting a luxury break with lovely scenic walks. You certainly won’t be disappointed if you stay here, we can’t wait to rebook and return already. Thank you so much for a memorable honeymoon!

• "What an absolutely beautiful cottage!"

  Myself and my husband thoroughly enjoyed our week stay here. Everything about the cottage was perfect! The level of decor and comfort far exceeded our expectations. The roll top bath was very much appreciated after lots of beautiful walks. The views are outstanding, even on the rainy days! The owners Christina and Austin were super helpful and friendly - and the extra touches including the chilled bottle of Prosecco was very much appreciated! We enjoyed many moments chatting to Snuggles the donkey, Chris and Ted the alpacas and Betty the highland cow. Would love to return here one day! If you are due to stay here you are on for a treat! • "The cottage was excellent."

  The standards of furnishing and equipment were exceptional, kitchen equipment, TVs, bedding, bath robes could not be faulted. The location was ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside and villages. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly, an added bonus of of a few drinks in the fridge on arrival. The hot tub was amazing, the animals in the adjacent field kept us entertained, especially the donkey. All in all a very relaxing week and well recommended.

• "Beautiful cottage, fabulous location and fantastic hosts."

  This was the perfect getaway for a couple of days, ideal for walks around the various key areas of the peaks. Saying this however, the cottage was so lovely we didn’t want to leave it for long most days! We would absolutely recommend this cottage to other couples and will definitely return.
