- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024İ have used Rit Dye for years to darker husband's shorts when he uses them for oil changes & they become discolored. I also use it to return blue or black jeans to the original color when faded.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 4, 2024First time I ever use a die and it’s excellent, easy to use, you just have to follow the instructions and you basically renew your wardrobe
- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2023Dyed my dive equipment with the graphite synthetic...overdyed it and and it turned out great.
The trick is.... boiling water...use more dye than they reccomend(I doubled it), more time than they recommend ( I double it also...for black) and make sure your pot or container is way bigger than what you are dying! Don't cram it onto a small container, let your item move freely in there so you can slosh, spin, flip and stir....lots of room!
Product works with proper usage I have used it many times with 100% Success on nylon, poly and even neoprene and plastic!
Update 2/2024...used my dyed diving equipment 40(ish)times in fresh and saltwater after dying it...still looks great.
Have dyed a few more things with great success....so wanted to add a few more tips I may have forgot the first time..
Preheat your water and your item (in the same water) being dyed....remove item then add your dye and soap, mixing well....over mix it! Then put your item back into the hot water and keep that water/dye bath moving...never let it sit still! Let the water boil....keep moving while the water is boiling/simmering. One your item looks almost complete kill the heat....,but keep moving your stew around...I keep moving my items around for 10 mins or so....then pull out and rinse with cold water over and over and over till my item rinces clear...even with sweat or saltwater, rainwater whatever there in no bleeding or staining of other items against the dyed item.....this stuff is great!
The bad.....
Lids not tightened and taped...mine came open during shipping...what a mess!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2023Not only am I out the money I paid for this product, but my patio sectional cushions are ruined. I followed the instructions to the T but the outcome was blotchy coverage with extreme dark and light spots. They want you to believe this is an easy DIY project, but I did everything I could to follow the instructions the best I could and it was a disaster. The water was near boiling. I stirred the covers. I left them in overnight to get good coverage...and none of it mattered. That'll be my last experiment with Rit Dye.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2024I used all three bottles in an attempt to dye a synthetic fiber robe from tan to black. Obviously with that much fabric, I couldn't use a stove and keep the water at a continuous boil, but used a storage tote in the bathtub with several gallons of water just under boiling. Let soak for 4-5 hours covered to retain heat but only managed to darken the robe to a light grey instead of black. I'm happy there was color change at all. I tossed in a couple other cotton items and the black dye worked just fine, but I think a continuous boil is necessary for poly blends.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2023This works on nylon fabric, but I could only achieve a dark gray. The tags on the dress turned black.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2024I am trying to get nylon parts black and the Black Rit wasn't cutting it. I contacted Rit and they said to get this Graphite, "Uh, but I want BLACK parts?" It's the maker, of course I can trust them, right? Well, they know what they are talking about! My parts are definitely black now! Also added a little dish soap and vinegar. No complaints!
