This is a pattern + tutorial for a peg-style hanging pod bag. Why is it called a "peg" basket? Because the shape reminds me of the bags that hang from clotheslines to hold clothespins! Not many people still use clotheslines, but this bag is a great storage solution that still has a place in our lives today!
This basket is a little different than my other pod bag in that the back is flat and will rest against a wall. This design is becoming my new favorite because it has such graceful and simple lines. The flat front is perfect for embroidery or embellishments.
This basket is perfect for so many things! Here are a few of my favorite uses:
-Fabric scraps can be thrown in while you sew.
-Toys like silks and dolls can be tossed in and kept out of sight.
-Hang in the kitchen and stuff it with bags from the grocery.
-Hang one from the headrest in your car to toss in toys that accumulate in the backseat.
-Storage in nursery for cloth diapers, burp cloths, fabric wipes.
-Laundry bag for lingerie.
-Use as a cubby organizer for school mittens, hats, gloves, and scarves.
-Great vanlife, rv, or camper organizer to tuck loose items out of sight.
This is a quick and easy project which should take about an hour to complete. Once you have a hang of it you should be able to sew a bag in less than 30 minutes. This is a great project for beginners!
Fabric requirements:
Small bag = 1 "fat quarter" (18" x 24")
Medium bag = 1/2 yard (18" x 44")
Large bag = 3/4 yard (27" x 44")

The pattern fits on four 8.5" x 11" sheets and the tutorial includes pictures and instructions. Basic sewing skills are a big plus for this pattern, but don’t let that hold you back if you are new to sewing. I got my start by grabbing a pattern and wrestling with it until I figured it out .
