"Well what a lovely week we had at Swallow’s Barn."
Such a peaceful setting and in such gorgeous accommodation!!
The standard and quality of everything, the furnishings and finishes. Such a comfy bed, roll top bath and sofas you can lie out on after a day of rambling.
Kate and David were a lovely warm and welcoming couple.
Barely got a look in on the lovely flapjack (hubby scoffed it to quickly) which was awaiting our arrival, a scrummy treat.
The barn is in a great spot to explore the surrounding areas and close enough to the amenities too.
We felt so refreshed and relaxed after our lovely week and got the last of the good weather too with some lovely sunny days.
We really want to stay again and will do our best to come back.
Thank you so much for a lovely review. Your comments amply describe what we are aiming for.

Was a perfect base for our holiday in South Devon. Lovely big bathroom with an amazing shower and bathtub. Well-stocked modern kitchen. Lots of space throughout the property. Comfy couches in the living room with lots of entertainment options provided, which was really appreciated. Also enjoyed all the local tourist pamphlets and Devon Life magazine issues. Very attentive hosts, too.

2024. The cottage was newly renovated and very tastefully furnished and fitted out. For our family of three it was extremely comfortable and peaceful. We particularly appreciated the privacy of the garden and terrace, the layout of the main living area upstairs and the well designed bathroom. The location of the property, a little way down a country lane for peace but near enough to a main road for getting around, was excellent. Communication with the owners was also excellent and the thoughtful provision of milk and flapjacks on arrival a welcome and classy touch.
Thank you for your very kind review. It was a pleasure hosting you. We hope to see you again.

"The location of Swallow's Barn is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding area."
We particularly enjoyed visiting Kingsbridge, Dartington, Buckfast Abbey and Dartmouth. In fact our daily evening waterfront strolls in Dartmouth were a highlight of the holiday.
Swallow's barn lived up to it's name as we were privileged to see the swallows themselves as they flitted around the rooftops and garden. The incredible peace and quiet of the hamlet added much to the enjoyment of our stay.
The accommodation itself went beyond our expectations. We found the bed and sofas to be extremely comfortable and really appreciated the space afforded by the beautifully appointed open plan upper floor living area. We had everything we needed for a peaceful and relaxing holiday.
David and Kate were so friendly and welcoming and readily available to answer any queries. Perfect hosts!
We cannot recommend this property highly enough and would give it more than five stars if we could!

"A sophisticated barn conversion and a lot of thought has obviously gone into the alteration work."
While only 1/4 mile from the main road it is in a quiet backwater but only 5 miles from Dartmouth. Outside space is excellent including a garden area and BBQ and living accommodation is spacious. We were welcomed on arrival and David/Kate were very accommodating regarding parking for our family who visited from the nearby camping site.
Bedroom are spacious though downstairs was a bit cold with no heating on. The bathroom could do with obscure rather than clear glass at the window and a shaver charging point. However the property has the convenience of access to the main road but the quiet of a rural Devon lane.
Thank you for your feedback, it is always helpful. We have now supplied a shaver conversion plug for charging in each bedroom. We were so sorry to hear that you were cold downstairs, we would happily have put/turned up the underfloor heating, you only had to ask. With regard to the windows in the bedrooms and bathroom they do in fact have special tinted glass for privacy as well as the blind and curtains provided.

"We had a lovely stay at Swallows Barn March 2024."
We had a very long drive from Maylandsea,Essex. Arrived to freshly made shortbread , milk in the fridge & beautiful tulips on the table. David introduced himself, and was very accommodating for us to contact him if we required anything.
As described Swallows is remote , but short drive into Dartmouth or Totnes.
1st night we decided to have a Chinese. Ordered from Phoenix in Totnes. As expected a delivery charge, but the meal was lovely. Highly recommend.
We did plan on going to Dartmouth castle but closed Mon-Friday atm.
We chose to go to Teignmouth zoo on the better day weather wise. We enjoyed throughly . Followed by a meal at the seafront at The View bar & Cafe (amazing fish & chips).
Swallows had all you need to cook meals , wash/ dry clothes (very much needed for us after being caught in a few downpours). The home is clean & tidy. I’m very particular with things like this so it was nice to relax . The bed are comfortable. Enough pillows & towels.
We didn’t get to use the garden but I’m sure it’s lovely with nice weather to have breakfast. Kate kindly sent us a message asking if we would like any croissants for the Sunday morning. We picked up some bits already from Food for Thought in Totnes yummy pastry’s & flapjacks! Totnes high street has a lot going on yet feels traditional (it is steep).
We also had a day in Plymouth at the aquarium then a walk around the boats before food. Highly recommend.
When parking out & about we set up a RingGo account. So easy to use & found parking very cheap.
Thank you for being so accommodating to us. Highly recommend
Thank you so much for your lovely and very comprehensive feedback. It will be very useful for future guests.
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay even if the weather was not very kind!

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
