These little stud earrings were lovingly hand-cut from thinly rolled porcelain clay.

Choose your color! Each piece was delicately dipped in glaze and fired to 2232 degrees fahrenheit, giving each one a unique hue and surface texture. To finish the design I hand-painted them with gold luster and fired them one more time, making the gold permanent and light-catching.

All variations feature gold-filled stud findings, and are beautifully presented on canvas backings.

— About Gold Luster Glaze —

Gold luster or "fired gold" has been used to decorate fine ceramic wares since the early 1800s. It is traditionally a solution of pure gold dissolved into an organic acid, which is then suspended in a thick solvent base that allows it to be applied with a brush. Other metals like platinum are also added to the gold solution to tweak its final color, thickness and durability after firing. Gold luster is considered an "overglaze" because it can only be applied over ceramic surfaces that have already been glazed and fired in a kiln.
