Wildwood is set on a rare exotic fruit orchard, in the heart of Cape Tribulation. Guests have exclusive access to the orchard and can freely explore the 800+ trees on the property, picking and sampling any of the fruits in season. All rooms provide access to a landscaped garden and fire pits for guests to cook out under the stars. The cabins also overlook a creek which runs seasonally with the rains. Wildwood backs onto national wet tropics protected rainforest, some of it over 1,000 years old. There is a 60 minute self-guided walk through the rainforest which leads from the back of the cabins, and it is a spectacular walk through fan palm galleries and a diverse range of plants and trees up the hillside and across the ridge. This is one of the few rainforest walks that you can do in the Daintree region which is unguided and not on boardwalks. We recommend that guests travel in a vehicle with medium to high clearance height. Meaning a small hatchback or van may not be suitable to travel on the Cape Tribulation road due to current road works that are continuing north of the Daintree River.

Wildwood cabins and house are based in the heart of Cape Tribulation on a rare exotic fruit orchard and guests are welcome to explore the orchards to pick their own fruit as they wish from the 800+ trees on the property and enjoy fresh eggs daily from our free roaming chickens. The house and cabins are secluded and private, set approximately 60 metres apart from each other and not visible. The cabins are identical and overlook a creek and 5 acres of virgin rainforest which is Heritage listed, with many rare and endangered species. There is a 60 minute self—guided walk through the rainforest which leads from the back of the cabins and it’s a spectacular walk through fan palm galleries and a diverse range of plants and trees up the hillside and across the ridge. This is one of the few rainforest walks that you can do in the Daintree region which is unguided and not on boardwalks so is quite a special feature of the property
At Wildwood we spend a lot of our time enjoying the garden, the chickens, the creeks and driving between Cow Bay and Cape Tribulation stopping at all the deserted sand beaches along the way, as well as Cassowary spotting. 10 mins walk from Wildwood, is Cape Tribulation where the majority of the trips and tours run from. There is horse riding on the beach as well as the only boat which takes you out snorkeling to the reef. This is run by Ocean Safari and they have a great speedboat which takes about 20-30 minutes to take you to the reef. Snorkeling is wonderful. We also enjoy Jungle Surfing, taking jungle walks with Cooper Creek Wilderness and visiting the Daintree Discovery Centre. We recommend Mike D'arcy for tours to Cook Town and crocodile cruises with Solar Whisper or Cooper Creek Cruises Cape Trib beach and Myall beaches are close by and very beautiful. There are two large swimming holes close to Wildwood - one at Mason’s called Myall creek, just 5 mins down the road, or at Emmagen creek about 10-15 mins drive.
