The features of the Lian Li UNI FAN AL120 in detail The Lian Li UNI FAN AL120 features a clever and unique design, with the fans including contact pins and being connected via a simple plug-in system. Multiple fans no longer have to be connected individually, which saves a lot of time and prevents cable clutter. The 360 view offers an excellent look which ever way you have the fan.
Additionally a fluid dynamic ball bearings ensure smooth operation and improve durability. Since friction is reduced, the fans can run at higher speeds without greater energy consumption. The UNI AL120 fans have a maximum full speed of 1900 rpm with up to 28.3 dB (A) under full load. They also run quiet with 64.5 CFM airflow and 2.62 mm H2O static pressure at full speed

The Lian Li Uni Fan AL120 has been designed and manufactured with style in mind. Whilst each fan frame has a reflective, brushed aluminium frame on both sides, a rear metallic medallion illuminates at the centre. With its cable hidden under the X-style fan support, your gaming PC’s set-up will flaunt a sleek and tidy aesthetic.
Each fan includes 32 digitally addressable RGB LEDs. This is operated via software and enables users to set both fan speed and illumination effects. Alternatively you can add to a triple pack which includes the manual controller. The new design and software allows you to control the lighting effects at the fan blades and the edge of the frame individually or combined.
The new and improved L-Connect software allows control of up to 64 fans and upto 4 controllers.
Warning: The UNI HUB controller of the Lian Li fan series SL is incompatible with the fans of the AL series and must not be used with them under any circumstances.

The RGB is great, the connecting together is great, they move quite a lot of air through my radiators at full power, and the software is as good as it needs to be.
The drawback is the PWM signal control. The PWM cable from the supplied hub does not have the pin required for transmitting a RPM to whatever you plug it into, and so it is pretty much useless. I have no idea how they missed that.
You can however plug each fan's, or fan group's, PWM 4pin plug into the motherboard/controller directly. So in my system I have a Aqua computer Quadro that I have 4 fan groups plugged into to control RPM based on water temp that is also fed into the Quadro, and the RGB wire from each fan group goes into the supplied hub and is controlled by the L-Connect software.
So, good fan, would be better if PWM RPM control was achievable through the supplied hub.

The build quality of the fans, the RGB and the controller is excellent. Very well made quiet and effective fans from this perspective they are worth a 4/5 star. The ability to connect the fans is also great
However the way they have implemented the Fan PWM is strange and there are no warnings and their website in fact states otherwise so I feel a little conned out of my money on these expensive fans.
The website says this "Users can set the fan speed of each group of UNI FANs manually or set it at PWM to let the motherboard control the speed." In the L-Connect 3 Software you can toggle which lets you assign the RPM speed to the Motherboard known as MB RPM Sync.
However this does not work there is no Tachometer signal going from the controller to the motherboard so the motherboard can never really "control" the RPM speed as it can never see the speed.
If you want fan curves they can never be controlled by another piece of software unless you physically connect each set of fan headers to the motherboard directly. Add in the fact that the L-Connect Software only supports reading of CPU and GPU temp if like me you watercool and base the fan speed on water temp its impossible.
the FAQ states recommends connecting it to system fan headers but nowhere does it explain the limitation here.
In summary good product quality but bad design and I would have been okay if they had made this limitation clear on the product page at the time of writing there is nothing. So i feel a little conned out of my money

Good fans overall with outstanding RGB. They comes with the controller which is very usefull, no hassle with cable management. They maybe are not the quietest fans but set op between 800 and 1200 rpm they make only low pitch hum noise witch is not annoying at all. Great service by Overclockers as always.
