Amyotrophe Lateralsklerose (ALS)

Prof. Thomas Meyer is a neurologist and is the Director of the ALS Outpatient Department of Charité & Universitätsmedizin Berlin. He has been working with ALS patients since 1991. Research visits have taken him to the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, to Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York and to the Max Delbrück Centre for Molecular Medicine in Berlin. He completed his neurological training at the Charité and at the University of Ulm. His doctoral and postdoctoral degrees were concerned with molecular-genetic issues in ALS. In 2002, he founded the ALS Outpatient Department at the Charité, which has developed into a specialized care and study center. He is co-founder of the care and research platform ?Ambulanzpartner= and author of numerous scientific publications on ALS.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Meyer ist Neurologe und Leiter der ALS-Ambulanz der Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Seit 1991 beschäftigt er sich mit der ALS. Forschungsaufenthalte führten ihn an das California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, an die Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York sowie an das Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in Berlin. Seine neurologische Ausbildung absolvierte er an der Charité sowie an der Universität Ulm. Seine Promotion und Habilitation widmeten sich molekular-genetischen Fragestellungen bei der ALS. 2002 gründete er an der Charité die ALS-Ambulanz, die sich zu einem spezialisierten Versorgungs- und Studienzentrum entwickelt hat. Er ist Mitgründer der Versorgungs- und Forschungsplattform "Ambulanzpartner" und Autor zahlreicher wissenschaftlicher Veröffentlichungen zur ALS.
