I have always been fascinated with woodworking, from watching the “The Woodwright’s Shop” on PBS in my youth to building a spectacularly overbuild kitchen table for my first apartment, but it was my teaching business and young family that always took precedence as a younger adult. As my family matured, it was then that I found the time to devote to woodcraft. Hours in the shop and frequent trips to the library replaced any formal training; perseverance elevated my work to a point where it stands on it’s on.

Largely influenced by the simple, but elegant designs of early American furniture, especially that of the Shakers, I try to incorporate functionality over embellishment in my work. I prefer working with locally sourced materials that are harvested in a sustainable manner and incorporate reclaimed lumber when appropriate. With a mind to sustainability, I also try to maximize my materials by complimenting my furniture making with turnings and wooden crafts.
