I graduated with a First Class degree in Fashion & Textile Design from the University of Portsmouth in 2018. During my studies, I interned at Paul Smith, Holly Fulton and FatFace.
Until recently, I worked as the Studio Assistant at sustainable fashion brand, Mother of Pearl. My experiences have allowed me to see first hand how the fashion industry works at all levels, and how brands work in different ways.
All ultimately have the same goal - create beautiful clothes that make people feel good. Although the fashion industry is very fast paced, and that is NOT good for the environment!
Being made redundant, and having to move back home from London because of the coronavirus were definitely not in my plans for this year. While I can't say for certain when I'll be back and working in the fashion industry again, I decided not to let it get me down.
So with a lot more time on my hands, and a lot less money, I decided to start sewing the clothes I wanted instead of wasting money buying them. 3 months later, I've decided to share my designs with the world!
So Lauren Chivers the brand is born!
My first collection 'Summer Sunshine' is a Seventies inspired, sustainable summer range of SEVEN pieces, all offered in a range of fabrics. Each piece can be purchased as a custom size or to fir your personal measurements.
If all goes well, I intend to create future collections in fully sustainable and recycled fabrics, and even incorporate my own print designs for the fabrics.
