TECHNIQUES REQUIRED: Knitting, purling, increases, decreases, slipped stitches and working with two ends of yarn held together.

Coasters: 10.5cm, 4⅛ ins square

MATERIALS:
Yarn: Knit Picks Cotlin DK yarn, 70% cotton, 30% linen,113 m/123 yds:50 gm ball.

Colours:
044 Swan/Cream, 334 Hydrangea/Pale blue,
338 Sagebrush/Pale green, 070 Surf/Aqua,
337 Conch/Orange & 694 Linen/Beige

Amounts – Placemat: x2 (3, 4, 4) balls each
& Coaster: x1 ball each

Actual amounts used – Placemats:
. Small: 84gm, 190m/207 yds
. Medium: 106gm, 240m/260 yds
. Large: 131gm, 296m/322 yds
. Extra Large: 172gm, 389m/425 yds

. Coaster: 13 gm/0.5 oz, 30m/32 yds

Yarn substitution: To use an alternative yarn, please select a DK (Double Knitting) cotton/linen yarn with a recommended gauge of about 22 sts:10cm/4 ins with 4.5mm/US #7 needles when working with a single strand of yarn. Please note that the placemats are worked with two ends of yarn held together for an extra-dense finish.

Needles: Size 4.5mm/US #7 long straight or circular needles.

Gauge: 20 sts & 34 rows:10cm/4 ins in Double-Banded Rib pattern, using 4.5mm/US #7 needles, with yarn held double throughout.

Notions: Row counter, tapestry needle for finishing and water mister for blocking.
