  • "We had a lovely week at Pool Cottage."

The owner was there to welcome us on arrival and answer any questions we had. She was always available during the week to offer any help if needed. There were chocolate brownies in the kitchen - which our children throughly enjoyed - and fresh eggs for breakfast. The cottage is amazing, very well equipped and comfortable and the hot tub is a great facility. The location is beautiful with surrounding fields, which you can see for miles and the town is only a short drive away. We didn’t want to leave and will definitely be retuning in the summer, so the children can go in the swimming pool. I would highly recommend Pool Cottage.

  • "We have used this cottage several times, mainly during the colder winter months and whilst an unpopular time for some, we take advantage of the gorgeous log burner and the amazing hot tub!"

First set of logs supplied complimentary with additional logs available at an extremely reasonable price! Underfloor heating in the kitchen and bathroom make one’s feet tingle with delight! The layout of the cottage is excellent but to note that for an older person the stairs as in an older cottage maybe a little steep but also bear in mind there is s sofa bed and accessible facilities downstairs. A modern fully equipped kitchen, a lovely conservatory which also takes you out to the pool area where there is a changing room and bathroom for use by the pool! So in contrast to all of those factors that make this cottage so cosy and welcoming, a little mad I know but the ladies take advantage of the swimming pool!!!!! Yes at outside temperatures of 2 and 3 degrees!!!!!! They say it is just mind over matter and reap the benefits of how the body reacts to the cold making it an invigorating and positive experience! Look up the Wim Hof method and all will become clear! Our host Robin absolutely cares! We had a welcome tray of delightful home baked chocolate brownies left with milk, fizz and spectacular fresh eggs from the chickens she keeps! The perfect host who is attentive and goes the extra mile to make things right! Simply spending a week or a weekend there is a real treat! We love it….

It was cold at first but once we got the heating working and the log burner going it was warm and cosy. The welcome pack of fresh eggs, milk and brownies along with the first basket of logs was a nice touch and very well received. The property was clean and had a homely feel. The facilities were great, the beds were particularly comfortable. The sofas were a little uncomfortable. Everything else in the property was excellent. Had we have been there in warmer weather I am sure the pool area and the hot tub would have been used. It all looked very inviting. An excellent stay all round. Thank you.

Unfortunately, the neighbouring guests were found to be very unreasonable as they expected us to request use of the communally shared facilities such as the pool and felt that they should be given an invite to shared outdoor meals with our friends and immediate family. Although the accommodation was family-friendly with a basketball court, bikes and a tennis court, the two neighbours who had hired the larger cottage were displeased with the bouncing of a basketball at dusk during the school holidays. In consequence, we took the children to local parks to play so as not to spend awkward moments around the neighbours. Once again - thank you Robin for all that you did for us. You're an absolute superstar!

Whether it be resting on the side of the pool, getting a few laps in, sleeping in the comfortable beds, cooking up a succulent barbie sitting down in the lovely warm hot tubs or just sitting down watching the day go by. Second time there, this time staying for a week and it just flew by. Not enough praise can be given to the owner for how amenable she is and how much care and attention she gives to her guests. It makes my girlfriends world how much time Robin is able to spend with her youngest and even with the chickens. Would highly recommend that anyone looking at this to come and stay a while and enjoy this wonderful little slice of heaven.

  • "I have two young children and we really enjoyed our stay."

Its a lovely house with underfloor heating and a fire in the lounge which made it very cosy and warm. We even sat in the conservatory looking out into the garden for another peaceful coffee spot. The master bed is massive with comfy crisp bedding and easy to see into the kids room if needed. The shower is lovely, hot and powerful. The hot tub was great, easy to open and private. The pool we knew would be cold as its winter but it was great that we could still go in it for a challenge. The kids enjoyed the inflatable boat that Robin had provided, pretending they were on an adventure and staying out of the water. We even managed a game of tennis on the court. It was nice to meet the owner (Robin) and we enjoyed seeing her around and chatting with her. We would have been happy to share the garden with next door although there was no one in when we were there but it would be a great community feel. Robin let us collect and have the apples and feed the chickens too. We took bikes and there was a hose to wash them down and were stored safety round the back of the house. The area is quiet, flat and great for a spot of road biking. The foss way is a 10 min cycle away or if you have kids that can't go on the road yet you can park at the pub (5 min drive) and access the foss way (canal type of cycle path) We loved Skellingthorpe woods to cycle round and stop at all the dens that had been built.

The kids loved the diving board. Hot tub was great as well. We played tennis every day too. The garden itself is also very pretty and the chickens were lovely. Robin was a lovely host. She made you feel very welcome and it was lovely to chat with her. The brownies she made went down a treat and she was kind enough to let us have the ingredients to bake more one day. Fresh eggs from the chickens and a bottle of wine were a nice touch as well. We have recommended it to friends who have also stayed and would definitely recommend it to others. Lincoln Castle and Cathedral were a nice day out, Burton Waters boat hire was good, and we had a good day at Skegness Fantasy Island. Lots more to do as well but nice to relax by the pool.

Robin is an absolutely wonderful host and our children love her to bits. The property itself is very clean, cosy and perfect for family gatherings. The Hot Tub is private and a luxury added bonus. Our children vary in age from 18-5 and they were never bored. Gorgeous garden, lovely pool, chickens to collect eggs from, sports pitch for football, basketball, hockey, tennis etc, bikes to borrow and ride and much more. There’s so much to do here that you may never need to leave but if you do, there’s lots to see and do in and around Lincoln. We knew at Easter that this would become a family favourite. Our daughter had made a firm friend in Robin and they write and stay in touch. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. We will most definitely be back again and again xxx

  • "We had a lovely stay however there are a few issues we would like to raise: - Cold pool, advertised as heated between May and Sept."

On arrival (Friday) it was cold and remained cold until Monday. The owner arrived back on Sunday and advised us that she had turned it off while she was away and would start the heating up process. So we missed out on 2 and half days of heated pool. The pool was freezing and we based the purchase of this holiday on the fact it was a heated pool so we could have use of a warm pool despite what the British Weather threw at us. This appeared to be the norm and no apology was offered up. We did mention in leaving form and feel we should be compensated for this. - Moths, forgot to mention this on the leaving form. The property is beautifully clean, However there are a lot of moths and there were present in the built in wardrobes. So we did not unpack we lived out of our suitcases. Possibly needs a bug spray, as no one wants to take moths home to their wardrobes. - The Owner. Now we know she lives on site, its her home. But on occasion it did feel like we were being watched. She sat on the end sofa by the pool and it kind of put you off coming out into the garden, assuming we could use the facilities at all hours (late evening). This definitely put my eldest off from going out on his own or use the pool without one of us present. Its not something you can raise while on holiday as you would feel awkward for the rest of the break. She probably shouldn't encourage children to do handstands on the diving board as she is not aware of their skill levels, thankfully we were there to control that. Plus it feels odd that we are using the pool and her neighbour/cleaner comes along to have a swim in the evening to. It does feel like an open house where the neighbour drops by un-announced which puts you on guard as you don't know the people wondering around the property. Maybe a note mentioning that people will be dropping by and a note referencing when the pool will be closed every evening so you can get your late swims in.

The host Robin made us feel very welcome and was at hand whenever we needed anything. We all made good use of the pool and hottub (both were maintained everyday). My daughter loved feeding the 4 rescue chickens and Robin let her collect the chicken eggs. It also had a tennis court which you used at your own risk as its very gravely was a great surprise and the older kids loved using it. The pool is shared with whoever has rented the property next door, but this was fantastic for us as they were great company and had kids of a similar age. They all played together and all the adults sat every night around the pool and just chatted away. I normally need a holiday after having a holiday but this time I didn't. It was just so chilled out. Thank you Robin hostess with the Mostess.

There was everything and more provided that you would need. Unfortunately our holiday was in February so we didn't use the pool but it looked so inviting. We did however use the Hot Tub every night, it was glorious! We went to Lincoln twice, it only 6 miles away, and a couple of other trips recommended by the owners we really enjoyed them all. I would also like to mention the free aerobatic displays by the red arrows who are stationed at RAF camp a few minutes away. Towels were provided (tea towels, bath towels, hot tub towels and even dog towels). Kitchen is equipped with cling film, washing up liquid, scooters dish cloths, kitchen roll, cooking oil, salt and pepper and even dishwasher tablets (which you do not normally have in a self catering). Other touches included fresh daffodils, a card inviting us to fetch fresh eggs whenever we wanted. We also had notes during our stay for a little girls offering that they name the chickens. In addition they left chicken food every day for the girls to feed the chickens. The small touches were just what made it even more fabulous. Spotlessly clean, the comfiest beds ever! She is so lovely and helpful, a small problem was fixed very very quickly. We would highly recommend this cottage, and are looking to book again soon.

  • "We had a lovely stay at pool cottage, the cottage is really clean, spacious and really nice."

Great hot tub and pool ( we didn’t use the pool it was February and it was too cold) but would be great in warmer weather. Everything you could wish for in the kitchen, extra special touches from the owners ( it was my birthday) left a cake, card and a bottle of bubbles which was such a lovely gesture and 6 rather lovely eggs from their chickens and milk in the Fridge. Nothing was too much trouble for them. We will be back to this cottage as we loved it. Also visited Lincoln can recommend Margaret’s tea shop for afternoon tea and the dam busters pub for dinner, we will be back
