The leaves are green at the base, with red tips that appear more intense as summer progresses into autumn, when they begin to shine like a jewel and light up the garden when it’s starting to look a little past its best. How to Grow

Imperata can be planted in full sun or semi-shade and requires a moist, well drained soil, especially in winter. Plant in groups of three or five for the most dramatic effect

Remove any all-green shoots if they appear. Clumps can be divided in the spring if large enough to do so.
