I am a retired public health nurse. My entire career has been in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I worked frequently with new moms. I also have been an avid sewer since 5th grade. My mom sewed all my clothes as a kid so I had a great teacher! I made all my work clothes since I could wear street clothes with a lab coat in my public health job. I loved making clothes for myself!!!
So when I retired I kind of panicked! How was I going to fulfill my need to sew and be creative? I wasn't going to need career clothes any more and leisure clothes just sounded boring to make. Making clothes for others never appealed to me b/c of the fitting issues. That is when I thought...what about sewing for babies!!! Baby fabric is so fun and colorful and you can be creative.
Creating StitchN4Kids has been a really fun experience for me. I never set foot in the business world so learning the ropes of promoting and selling items has been fun. I decided when I started that if this wasn't fun then I wouldn't do it. After all this is my" retirement job". I was a nursing supervisor so no more deadlines or pressure for me!! I make things that I like and at my own pace.
One of my favorite things about my shop is that many people buy things for gifts. I have always loved giving gifts and even if I am not the one giving the gift it is always fun to send it to the recipient and know they will get a surprise in the mail.
I love my customers and appreciate all the wonderful reviews. It really makes my day when I know I made someone happy with their item or a little one will have something special to snuggle!
