This belt bag (fanny bag, bum bag, hip bag, waist pouch, banana bag, hug bag, gift for her, gift for him) is ideal for anybody with leftover fabrics from previous projects or old favorite clothes which you would like to give a second life. Of course, you can use brand new material, it is up to you. The bag HAS LINING but you can choose to make the main compartment without the lining, it is up to you. I would say that an advanced beginner is able to sew this bag by following tutorials but most appropriate level would be intermediate.

What is the best fabric for a fanny pack? Any fabric or remnants which do not stretch and aren’t too flimsy or soft. You can use thin fabrics, too, however, in that case you will need to add additional support like iron on interfacing etc. Please see the detailed list of what you need in the first page of the instructions file which is provided in the pictures.
With this beautiful belt bag you can keep your valuables together with special compartments for coins, cards, cosmetics, jewelry and, of course, mobile phone.
When I was preparing to travel during the pandemic I was looking for a belt bag pattern with many pockets as during the stressful checks in the airports it is complicated to deal with all your documents, proofs, passports, face masks, you name it. I wanted something that is big enough for all the essentials but small and easy to carry so the airlaine won’t charge an extra fee. There was nothing available so I had to design this bag myself.
Since then this is my favorite bag not just for travelling but for every day, it is just perfect! Everything is secure and when taking out my card I will not lose the train ticket, there is a pocket at the back where I can slide my passport for the next airport check or my mobile. And there is a special loop for the sunglasses. I can wear the bag on my hips, across the chest or even as a shoulder bag. And - most importantly - it cost me next to nothing as it is made from fabric remnants and a recycled bag strap.
