Obersee is a mens, top-down raglan sweater worked seamlessly in a beautiful moss stitch texture. It is designed with men in mind and based off of average mens sizing charts, but if you like the oversized sweatshirt style vibe you could also make this for women. Or share it with your man too, if he doesn’t love it too much for that ;)
This sweater is designed to be like a comfy and cozy sweatshirt fit with longer sleeves than a standard fitted sweater. The sleeves will fit to about the knuckles instead of ending at the wrist. I have very in depth instructions in the pattern for how to shorten the sleeves if you want them shorter. The sleeves are also broken down into 3 lengths based on the wearers height, similar to tailored shirts because the taller men are usually means the longer their arms are. So not only are there 8 chest size options, but there are 3 sleeve lengths to customize the sweater how you want it to be.

SKILL LEVEL
• This is NOT a beginner pattern, I would not recommend this to people who have never knit a sweater before or have never knit a top down raglan sweater before. This pattern has 8 sizes and many rows are written out with sizing in parentheses: Size 1 (2, 3, 4, 5)[6, 7, 8, 9]. If you're familiar with top down sweaters and reading your knitting this should be a very doable sweater.
• This pattern includes a chart for the very simple stitch pattern, but requires you to read your knitting a little bit. It’s a lot simpler than it may sound if you’ve never done it before. I have a written instruction and video instruction included in the pattern for this to make it as clear as possible.
SIZING
I recommend choosing a finished chest measurement that is around 2 - 6″ {5 - 15 cm} larger than your actual measurement. Sample is size 4 with 3.75″ {9.5 cm} of positive ease.
• Finished Chest: 33.75 (38, 41.5, 46.75, 50.25)56.25, 62.25, 68.25 inches, {85.5 (96.5, 105.5, 118.5, 127.5)143, 158, 173.5 cm}
• Upper Arm: 13.5 (14.75, 15.5, 16.5, 17.75)19, 20.75, 22 inches, {34.5 (37.5, 39.5, 42, 45)48.5, 52.5, 56 cm}
• Sweater Length: 25.5 (26, 26.5, 27.25, 28)28.75, 29.5, 30.25 inches, {65 (66, 67.5, 69, 71)73, 75, 77 cm}
YARN
• DK/Light Worsted weight
The yardage is estimated based on the sleeve length you choose to knit, and the sleeve lengths are based on the wearer’s height.
• FOR HEIGHT RANGES: Up to 5′4″ - 5′8″ {Up to 162.5-172.5 cm}
1115 (1240, 1335, 1465, 1535)1670, 1835, 1975 yards, {1020 (1134, 1221, 1340, 1404)1527, 1678, 1806 meters}
• FOR HEIGHT RANGES: 5′9″- 6′0″ {175.5-183 cm}
1140 (1280, 1360, 1500, 1550)1710, 1860, 2005 yardage, {1042 (1170, 1244, 1372, 1417)1564, 1701, 1833 meters}
• FOR HEIGHT RANGES: 6′1″ AND UP {185.5+ cm}
1125 (1280, 1375, 1520, 1475)1730, 1870, 2030 yards, {1029 (1170, 1257, 1390, 1349)1582, 1710, 1856 meters}
Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.
Sample uses: 220 Superwash (100% Wool, 219 yds/100g) in the colorway ‘Charcoal (900)’.
Ravelry lists it as a worsted weight, but loveknitting lists it as a DK. I think it’s definitely more like a DK, but one of my testers went up to a worsted weight to achieve gauge.
NEEDLES
• Gauge Needles: US 7 {4.5 mm} 16″ {40 cm}, 24″ {60 cm} circular and your preferred sleeve needles (12″ {30 cm} circular, DPNs, or magic loop)
Or size needed to match gauge.
• Rib Needles: Set of circular needles 2 sizes smaller than what you use to meet gauge with in the same cable lengths. In this case US 5 (3.75 mm).
GAUGE
Moss Stitch worked in the round and blocked.
• 18.5 sts/26 rounds = 4″ {10 cm}.
NOTES
• This pattern has been professionally tech edited for every size. It has been test knit for sizes 1-5, unfortunately I was unable to find testers for sizes 6-8. If you would like to knit those sizes and give me pattern notes I will send you a free copy, please message me.
