Class experience
This course is listed as a "One-Time" class which is intended to provide flexibility with individual needs and scheduling. I am open to taking learners who prefer just a one-time lesson or regularly scheduled lessons. These will be live one-on-one lessons which focus on the goals of the learner. Students will be able to use metacognition (thinking about one's thinking) to develop their guitar skills.
The guitar is my primary instrument and the one I love the most. I taught guitar for three years while I was a middle school music teacher and I also taught privately during that time. I have had success teaching students with various skill levels from beginner to advanced.
The learner will need a guitar (acoustic, classical, or electric) and should have regular access to it between lessons. If the student's goals or plan consist of recording, they will need a device or other software to record. I suggest using whatever recording software is already available on any device from home such as GarageBand or Voice Memos. Another great option is using the free web-based recording software found at Soundtrap.com. These details can be discussed during or after the first lesson.
If the student's goal consists of learning a song containing sensitive lyrics, I will communicate this to the parent and seek permission to continue before moving forward with that goal.
