    Ruby designs all Ashanti Empress clothing, hand selects the prints and works in collaboration with Ghanaian tailors to make the designs a reality! She founded Ashanti Empress after living in Ghana and falling in love with the amazing fabrics!

    Abou is an art dealer from Niger who has lived in Ghana for the past 10 years. He does a lot of bead work, making beautiful jewellery and he also makes our amazing African print sneakers, upcycling shoes with vibrant West African materials.

  • Bernard Nsiah

    Kumasi, Ghana

    Bernard is one of the newest members of our team. He's a dedicated young tailor who is always teaching himself how to sew new styles. He makes all of our kimonos.

    Boatemaa is a joker and many hours have been spent laughing in her shop as she creates all kinds of colourful goodies! She always knew she wanted to do a practical job and taught herself to sew. She has been a seamstress for 9 years and runs her own shop in Kromuase. She makes the womenswear.

    Francis works in Abrasu, Kumasi. He has been a tailor for 10 years now and has a small shop. He is disabled and has difficulty walking so he relies solely on tailoring to support his family. He makes all of the Ashanti tracksuit trousers.

    Gloria is the daughter of Sabina and they work together to create all of our accessories. Gloria makes all of our backpacks, hats and wallets. She has recently finished her studies at Cape Coast University.

    Linda has been a seamstress for 13 years and is very passionate about her trade. She has been working with Ashanti Empress since the beginning and the regular income has enabled Linda to expand her business over the last 2 years, buying her own container shop and an industrial sewing machine.

    Obehi works with a number of basket weavers in the city of Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana to make colourful fans and baskets for us.

    Rahanna is one of the students who benefitted from our school scholarship programme. She is now pursuing a career in fashion design and has begun sewing headbands for Ashanti Empress to save for University.

    Ruby designs all Ashanti Empress clothing, hand selects the prints and works in collaboration with Ghanaian craftspeople to make the Ashanti dreams a reality! She founded Ashanti Empress after falling in love with Ghana and being inspired by the beautiful coloured West African fabrics.

    Sabina makes all of the Ashanti Empress hats and accessories. She works from her house in Cape Coast Ghana and often works in collaboration with her grown-up children Gloria and Kweku who also sew accessories.

    Sophia has been a seamstress for 12 years and now has 3 apprentices, Gladys, Mary and Sarah helping her in her roadside shop. They make the Ashanti Empress trousers and some womenswear.

  • Yaw Nsafoah

    Yaw is the King of Patchwork! Alongside his wife Ester he collects scraps of waste fabric from tailors and then sews the pieces together to create amazing patchwork material. He works from the porch of his house with a hand-powered sewing machine as tragically he lost his leg in a car accident.

Delivery

Your ASHANTI EMPRESS item will be packaged and ready for dispatch within a maximum of 7 working days from receiving your order. We are currently very busy trading at festivals each weekend so we will be doing Post Office runs mainly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week. We will always endeavour to send your order ASAP and notify you of any delays.

If you would like your item delivered using an express or tracked service we offer these options at checkout.

ORDER NOT ARRIVED?
In the unlikely event that you do not receive your items in the time frame above please do the following:
1. Check tracking if available.
2. Check with neighbours in case parcel has been left with them or in another place if it didn't fit through the letterbox.
3. Check that your parcel is not being held by your local post office or customs
4. Contact Ashanti Empress to let us know it hasn't been delivered.
5. If the item has not arrived 30 days after the dispatch date then we will replace or refund the item.
6. If the item does arrive please notify us.

CUSTOMS AND IMPORT TAXES
Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. ASHANTI EMPRESS is not responsible for delays due to customs.

We try to reduce our environmental impact as much as possible.
- Lots of our products are made from recycled fabric and offcuts from our production process (Colour Me Crazy fabric and lots of our accessories)
- All orders are sent in 100% recycled mailbag
- We make super small batches of each item of clothing to reduce wastage, it also means they are limited edition!
