About LacisMuseum

On Etsy since 2017

In the museum shop we cater to all the makers, costumers and creative folks from all over the world.
Most of the items in our collections took years to make in the skilled hands of unknown artists and craftsmen.
We do a lot of hand washing behind the scenes.
Through these doors in Berkeley is an entire building dedicated to lace and textiles.
Donations are first considered for our permanent collections before they go on the shop floor and finally into Etsy.

The love of lace and textiles grows into a shop and museum in Berkeley.

In 1965 Jules and Kaethe Kliot started a store called Some Place in Berkeley, CA selling fine needlework and lace.
In 2004 as a memorial to Kaethe the shop was expanded and a museum officially formed, creating the Lacis Museum of Lace and Textiles. The mission of the museum is to promote continued knowledge and love for needlework techniques, especially lace.

The brick and mortar shop is located at 2982 Adeline St in Berkeley and currently has one of the few extant collections of Piña embroidery from the Philippines.
