Coffee Pod Creations started in 2018 when I became concerned about the millions of coffee pods which are discarded and end up in landfill.

Culturally, the coffee capsule is a symbol of a busy lifestyle. My work represents the opposite: the slowing down and appreciating the little things. It is a conscious move towards a more sustainable jewellery practice.

It is important to me that I’m not contributing to the increase of waste but am doing something (albeit small-scale) to re-purpose some of it. Each item is handmade in small batches and features an aluminium coffee pod. There are many parts to the process and it takes a long time. However I love sharing my work with others and I feel passionately about why I do it.

SUSTAINABILITY AT COFFEE POD CREATIONS
I know there is a long way to go to make jewellery more environmentally friendly but I will continue to learn and improve my knowledge and adapt my operating practices so I am as environmentally sustainable as possible.

I creatively reuse aluminium coffee pods and incorporate them into my jewellery designs. For some parts of jewellery making, for example earring hooks and earring posts, I use new materials. When I do buy new, I choose stainless steel because it doesn't tarnish, it is long lasting and strong. Through my partnership with Ecologi, I purchase carbon offsets to make up for any emissions caused by the production and transportation of these materials.

Staying true to my ethos, all items are posted in recycled and recyclable packaging.
