Sky Talk Shield

Sky Talk Shield and getting started

How it works

  1. Someone tries to call you
  2. Talk Shield intercepts and blocks calls from ‘robots’ and automated callers.
  3. If it’s a person, your phone rings and you’ll hear a recording of the caller’s name.
  4. Choose to answer the call, block it or send it to Voicemail (if you have Voicemail).
  5. You can add the number to your Star or Block list.

Callers on your Star List, such as your friends and family, will get straight through every time. Numbers you block will never bother you again, simple.

Add up to 1,000 numbers while on a call, after a call, or online. Go to Using Sky Talk Shield for more info.

Getting Sky Talk Shield

To get Sky Talk Shield you need to have Sky Talk and be on our network – we always try use our network but when that’s not possible we might use BT’s network. Sky Talk Shield will have been switched on if you added it when you joined Sky Talk.

Not already activated? Sign in to activate Sky Talk Shield.

Before you start, here’s a few things:

  • Talk Shield doesn’t work well with other call blocking products, built-in call screening, and some non-Sky voicemails. Turn these off for it to run smoothly.
  • Using our Anonymous Caller Reject or Last Caller Barring features? They’ll be removed from your account when you add Talk Shield.
  • Call Screening feature isn’t compatible with text phones. Also, if you're using a fax number, make sure you add it to your Star List or turn off Call Screening.
  • Using a security alarm or care alarm? Remember to add the providers number to your Star List.
  • Moving home? You'll lose your Star and Block lists so don't forget to download your list to CSV before you move - this makes it easier to add these again once you've moved.
