• "We absolutely loved the property it is a beautiful place and we would love to come back in the future."

  However, it was such a shame that when we arrived the house was unfortunately not cleaned, the bed sheets had not been changed, there were no new towels (the previous occupants towels were still lying around) , there were no bin bags and there was milk left in the fridge that was 3 days passed its use by date and half drunk. My wife had to hoover the property and clean the bathroom; not something you’d expect to do when you’ve paid over £500 for your stay! We were so thankful that the family before us had left the property in an acceptable condition but this doesn’t make up for the fact the house was not prepared. We only had a 3 night stay so spending the first evening making phone calls and wondering whether we would have clean beds to sleep in was deeply disappointing.

  Dear Mr Aston Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your recent stay. Before I responded I needed to speak to both the cleaning team and Coast and Country. I am glad that you loved the property but can only apologies for the condition you found the property in. You are correct when you say that it should have been cleaned, had fresh laundry and towels. I know that Coast and Country have been in touch with you personally to apologise and to make amends for the condition which is way below the standards we expect and aspire to. I am uncertain whether they explained the circumstances that caused the situation but would like to explain the reason why as I am equally disappointed in the condition you arrived to. Unfortunately, the system for informing the cleaning team of arrivals is new, this has been used infrequently due to the start of the holiday season with the guest prior to you being an owner booking (It was a relative, it is heartening that they left it in a reasonable condition ! ). This resulted in the cleaner not accessing the data correctly and unfortunately, overlooking the booking. There is also a new system to report issues to the management company, cleaner or owner and this system failed to notify the cleaners of the oversite with sufficient urgency, I suspect due to the Bank Holiday. The missed clean was initially noticed by the Cleaning Supervisor late in the afternoon who had to ring Head office to check as she thought the booking may have been cancelled only to be dismayed when she found out otherwise. This was the lady who called in to rectify the issue. I know from speaking to the local team of the Coast and Country offices, that they would have responded personally, had they known sooner. • "Stylish, warm, comfortable, well-equipped/maintained and clean."

  Perfect location for walking the coastal path and beach/estuary. Secure garden for the dog to explore. We loved our stay at The Croft and hope to return soon.

• "Very comfortable and warm for outofseason break."

  Front step tricky for anyone with mobility issues. Garden a bit overgrown but with some lovely shrubs. Camelias were in flower which was a bonus. Walk in shower would be ideal. Bathroom very nice and good that noisy extractor fan could be switched off. Kitchen very usable. Lots of birds visit garden, robins, tits, sparrows etc.

• "We have been holidaying in Newport for over 15 years sometimes twice a year with our extended family staying in multiple cottages, houses and Bungalows."

  We have also stayed at The Croft before and love it’s convenient location and safe, level garden for our dog. Unfortunately we returned a day earlier this holiday, last Thursday in fact, as we found the double bed mattress very hard and uncomfortable and the pillows far too flat together with the too firm sofa in the living room (although we did remember to take an extra 4 cushions of our own to help with our comfort this visit). We found also to leave one toilet roll for two adults for a week was a tad mean together with no toilet bleach or cleaner either. I appreciate there are many spiders and webs this time of year but didn’t expect to have to clear them in the double bedroom myself with the broom in the hall cupboard. The property is designed well and the decoration is superb but we both agreed that sadly it didn’t meet our comfort needs this time.

• "Property is really lovely- well furnished and equipped."

  Great location for accessing the amenities and beautiful coastline of Newport. Sadly the floors in the property were filthy and there were accumulated hairs on the floor in the bathroom - no wonder when the mop was also filthy and the hoover had almost zero suction. Took 5 days for cleaning to be organised. Communication over the issue was disappointing and the owners were unwilling to provide any rebate. A shame that this detracted from an otherwise lovely property.

• "We had a really lovely week, couldn't fault the property at all."

  The only thing that was a bit annoying was the front driveway was pretty overgrown, & I kept catching myself on the bushes! But this was being sorted as we left. Small niggle - but I would suggest that as we had to be out by 10am, the guys who came to do the garden & sort this out should come after 10, they were a bit in the way as we were packing, & a bit unnerving to have someone in the back while you're still there! But that's a very small negative, we will definitely be back, we really had a lovely week. Thankyou!

• "We had a lovely break here and will be returning!"

  Beautifully styled house, everything we could need plus a welcome bottle of wine in the fridge! Loved the hand painted seagulls in the bedroom. Brilliant location, space for parking and a big garden. Only slight quibble was the bedding- we’re not fans of feather quilts and pillows, they make us sneeze! Thank you for a lovely stay.

  With most places we provide what we prefer. If you have particular preferences if you express before you arrive we if possible try and accommodate. We cannot always second guess. Let us know next time and we will try and change things.Glad you liked the seagulls:) Property Owner
