BIOEFFECT was born out of a true love for science.

BIOEFFECT was founded by three Icelandic scientists when they developed a method to bioengineer the barley plant to produce skincare growth factors. One of these growth factors is EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), BIOEFFECT's signature skincare ingredient - produced in barley, which is grown in our own hydroponic, geothermal-powered greenhouse in Iceland.
