IWSC 2023 Silver First released in the early 1950's, Cynar is an Italian aperitif, named after the artichoke (Cynara Scolymus) which is the main flavouring ingredient. Won a Silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2023.

Ripe tomatoes and bittersweet stewed vegetables may not sound like the aperitif of your dreams, but it works here as the artichoke is combined with caramel-like sweetness.

About this product

It is made from thirteen herbs and plants, predominant amongst which is the artichoke (Cynara Scolymus), from which the drink derives its name, these are steeped in neutral spirit, before being sweetened.

Invented by Italian businessman Angelo Dalle Molle, Cynar quickly became popular through their slogan "control il logorio della vita moderna" (against the stress of modern life). Since 1995, it has been a part of Grupo Campari.

To keep up with its popular demand, production happens at one (or several) of Gruppo Campari's eighteen plants worldwide.
