A beautiful wooden stool carved by hand by the Dogon of Mali.

Today used in everyday life, Dogon stools formerly represented the symbols of the authority of the so-called "Hogons" priests (the primordial ancestors of the Dogon Cosmogomy, a mythical theory on the formation of the Universe).

The stool is supported by four twin figurines that embody the ancestors of the Dogon people: the Nommo
It is a beautiful patina of use that models, according to Dogon mythology:

The Dogon live in Mali in the southwestern part of the Niger Loop. It is a mountainous region called "Cliffs of Bandiagara", a long sandstone chain located in Mali in the Mopti region, around which the Dogon Country extends.

It is one of the most imposing sites in West Africa, whether for its archaeological, ethnological or geological characteristics. A very small part of the southwestern end of the cliffs is in Burkina Faso.

Beautiful, just as pictured. The package was well wrapped, thankfully, since the postal service killed the box. There was a little bit of a delivery issue (usps) but Habi was diligent and helpful in getting it resolved. Would definitely buy from this shop again!!
