When I learned to sew as a child, I did not want to sew. My grandma was fierce and she ripped out a lot of my seams. That is never fun but sometimes you just have to do it until you get it right.

Many years later, I found myself working in a fabric shop. Which, was a bit confusing to my mom and grandma since fabric shopping was always utter agony when I was a child. My grandmother would stay for what felt like hours and look at the same darn fabric FOREVER.

Then, while working at the fabric store, I decide to make a quilt because my quilt from my other grandmother was completely worn out. Actually--I think the quilting part came first and THEN I got the job at the fabric store because I only stepped back into a dang fabric store to get fabric to make my first quilt. I still have the first quilt that I made way back in 1999. I sleep with it every night so it is getting threadbare. My piece work back then was atrociously hilarious! Ask, and I will send you a picture!

Anyway, making bags was a progression from quilting. I absolutely love to take perfectly good fabric, match it is other perfectly good fabric, cut it all up, and sew it back together again. Quilts are expensive and take a lot of time but my bags are a sort of "mini quilt". So I get my fabric and color fix in a fraction of the time it takes to make a quilt.

I do hope you enjoy carrying my bags as much as I enjoy making them. They truly are my heart and soul.
