5 out of 5 starsMisti's sustainable shop ethos of repurposing/recycling existing materials into yarn is perfectly aligned with my sustainable lifestyle goals. I had 2 sweaters that I sent to Misti to unravel into yarn to knit with. The first sweater was a thrifted 100% cashmere knit and the second was a beautiful sweater I had hand-knit using indie-dyed 100% merino wool and mohair. The mohair I had used in the hand-knit sweater was itchy, so I wasn't getting any wear out of the sweater. I had wanted to frog the sweater myself for a while, but couldn't bring myself to do it since I had spent so many hours making it. Misti's sweater recycling service took the pain out of me having to frog these beautiful sweaters myself. Now I have the yarn ready and expertly caked up to make into new projects. Thank you Misti!

5 out of 5 starsHaven't used this yarn yet - too many things in progress to start something new - but I have a certain sweater in mind. I love reusing things and reusing yarn is my absolute go to. I also appreciate Misti giving shipping boxes a second run and and even safety pins instead of tape on the labels. Details matter and Misti is really doing her part in protecting the environment!

5 out of 5 starsThis yarn is a little rough, but that's to be expected from Shetland wool. It will be perfect for a shawl that I can wear over clothes.

5 out of 5 starsI don't even know yet what I will use this yarn for, but it's a perfect stash filler. Who can't use grey fingering?

As a lefty, I learned to crochet as a child by mirroring my right-handed mother’s movements and following her chant-like instructions that I still hum in my head as I work now. I hope these natural fiber yarns can bring you such peace.

Frequently asked questions
How can I save on shipping when purchasing multiple items at once?
Contact me with which listings you'd like together and I'll create a custom listing with everything in one box.
How do you calculate yarn weights?
I calculate yarn weights by applying the yarn's wpi (wraps per inch) to the chart below:
Lace: wpi of 30 or more
Fingering: wpi of 19-29
Sport: wpi of 15-18
DK: wpi of 12-14
Worsted / Aran: wpi of 8-11
Bulky: wpi of 7 or less
How do you calculate your pricing?
I time myself while working and charge for my time spent + material cost. I do not inflate my prices for perceived value. Therefore, a cotton sweater I spent 2 hours on costs the same as an alpaca sweater I spent 2 hours on. I keep my prices as low as possible because I believe if a product is not affordable, it is also not sustainable.
