The experience was just as good as last year. A wonderful location, superb facilities, and caring owners.

  • "The property is approached on a single track road and there are some large potholes at the top."

There was an ongoing problem with the door which was resolved while we were there, just don't touch the handle when you lock or unlock. Despite being on a working farm, we stayed early March and there was no noise or smells you might expect with a farm. Once we had overcome the door issue we had a lovely stay. There were lots of logs for the wood burner and the owners, who live close by, were very welcoming. Carver's Rest is clean, comfortable and there is lots to do in the area. We would stay again.

  • "Carvers Rest was a warm and comfortable cottage in an area with lots to do and see."

The position was quiet and away from it all, with views. The owners were on hand if we needed them which was very reassuring. We would happily return. Southwell is a gem of a place and only a few minutes drive away. The Hills pop up farm shop was a delight.

We really enjoyed our stay if your looking for a peaceful and tranquil place to stay then this has to be it. A place to kickback relax and recharge your batteries with unspoilt views for miles around. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and well equipped from the comfy beds to the kitchen every need catered for. Great base for exploring if you want or just chill on the patio. Our party consisted of four adults and two toddlers we didn't want to leave and will be returning for a little longer next time.

Excellent facilities in an interesting location with lots to see and do within a 10 miles radius. The owners were on hand to offer helpful advice and suggestions for visits, eating out etc. and ensured our every need was catered for. The heating system deserves a special mention for maintaining such a comfortable temperature, daytime and night-time throughout our visit, so much so, we didn't need to take advantage of the lovely woodburner stove. Many thanks for a great stay.

The decor is beautiful and it had all the amenities we required for our stay. I used it to stay with my bridal party the night before my wedding so it made the perfect start to the weekend and I would recommend it to any other people getting married at Norwood Park- less than 10 minutes drive in the car away, perfect for the bridal party or for guests to make the most of the weekend!

  • "Absolutely loved this place!"

Carvers Rest is such a fantastic place to stay to escape to, it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside but not too far from the lovely villages of Farnsfield and Southwell. Stunning interiors (pinched a few ideas for home!) with fabulous furnishings and super comfy beds. The kids loved running around the garden and saying hello to Bob the chicken who popped by. The owners are so lovely and helpful and we would definitely recommend visiting the Hills Pop Up Shop at the weekends for delicious meat, cakes and coffee, and The Rustic Crust in Farnsfield for great pizzas and cocktails! The perfect base for exploring Nottinghamshire- Sherwood Forest, GoApe, Clumber Park to make a few. We would love to return to Carvers Rest

About the location

SOUTHWELL

Newark 9 Miles, Mansfield 13 Miles, Nottingham 15 Miles

Southwell is arguably one of the prettiest towns in Nottinghamshire. Many of Southwell's historic buildings and landmarks suffered during this period, with the Archbishop's Palace and Southwell Minster bearing scars from the conflict as Oliver Cromwell's troops destroyed monuments and graves for lead and other valuable materials. The stunning Southwell Minster is a splendid cathedral with one of the finest Norman naves in Europe and only a stone’s throw from the narrow high street and beautiful pubs. The town played its own role in the English Civil War. Today you can wander the grounds and check out a full programme of living history events, tours and exhibitions. Every year, Southwell plays host to two great music festivals. Gate to Southwell Festival is one of the leading folk events in the country, and as well as impressive headliners each year, visitors can also enjoy street theatre, workshops and traditional performances such as ceilidhs and morris dancing, along with sampling a great selection of fine craft ales and delicious food. Head to the The Refrectory inside Southwell Minster grounds, with magnificent views that can be enjoyed on their patio area while you enjoy their scrumptious tea and cakes! Alternatively, have a wander through Reg Taylor's Garden Centre, which features a sculpture garden, swan sanctuary, gift shop and a lovely tea rooms where you can tuck into a freshly prepared lunch or Sunday Roast.
