A sauna, hot tub and games room all add to the pleasurable atmosphere. A wide variety of attractions lie within easy reach including the NT’s Oxburgh Hall, a moated manor house built in 1482 and which holds special events throughout the year, and Langham Glass, where visitors can watch the traditional skills of glass making. A wealth of crafts and antiques barns, a butterfly and wildlfe park, water gardens, farm parks, plant nurseries, museums or rural life and a rare breeds centre also promise good days out. Boasting several unique wildlife habitats and criss-crossed by footpaths and quiet lanes, the wide scenery of the Fens and the heathland and forests of the Norfolk Brecks offer excellent walking and cycling opportunities, whilst the north Norfolk coast, with its picturesque villages, salt marshes and bird reserves, is an easy drive. Sandringham House and Park is well worth a visit and the Victorian seaside resort of Hunstanton’s sandy beaches, rock pools, majestic cliffs, beautifully planted gardens, traditional amusements, fun fair and host of water based activities are sure to delight visitors of all ages. Standing on rising ground just 3.5 miles away is Downham Market, one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns and offering a good choice of shops, inns, restaurants, tennis and a sports centre. We had a lovely week at rafters barn, it was a great base for all the activities we had planned. Warm and comfy accommodation, plenty of room for relaxing. Well equipped cottage. Enjoyed watching the horses in the field. The bottle of wine was much appreciated on arrival. Would recommend this accommodation.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable week at "Rafters Barn". We were greeted on arrival by the owner who gave us a tour of the cottage and excellent facilities. The kitchen was well equipped with all the usually expected items, though the hob/oven is not in its first flush of youth. The lounge / dining area was comfortable and had a decent sized TV. The one bedroom we used was warm and comfortable, though being in the roof space, making sure to avoid the sloping ceiling, both there and in the bathroom, was essential! The available facilities, spa/sauna/games room, were excellent, and although we didn't use it, I can imagine the outdoor pool being popular in summer. The cottage is situated in quiet countryside, so no disturbance at night at all. All in all, highly recommended.
