10 Customer Reviews

  • "Make sure the heating is on in Winter before the customers arrive, house was 11C when we arrived."

Leave instructions as to how to turn the heating on, we had to call out a plumber! Would be kind to leave customers some rubbish bags and instructions where to dispose of recycling. Maybe some dishwasher tablets as well would be welcome.

  • "We really liked Mill Cottage and it suited our party very well."

The lounge area was fantastic. However there were few things that caused us problems, partly due to the lack of information provided in the property and in advance of us going. In particular: 1. The TV - we realise that TV reception is poor in Newport, but it would have been useful to know in advance that it is a Smart TV as it meant that we needed a laptop and HDMI cable to watch ITV live for the World Cup rugby. Luckily we had both but others may not realise this. Also the router had been unplugged by the cleaner and it was only because of the helpfulness of your local agent that we were able to get things working when we arrived. 2. There were 2 vacuum cleaners but neither worked. We managed to fix one which had a large stone stuck in the tube. Are these not checked between guests? 3. There were no instructions about rubbish, recycling and when bin day is 4. The shower didn't drain properly 5. Both toilet seats were loose We left a note about points 2-5 so they could be dealt with by the owner

  • "We loved it, lots of room, very relaxing, comfortable beds."

Best of all was the kitchen / lounge layout.

  • "We absolutely loved this house!"

It is so spacious, great layout, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. We had plenty of space for all of us - 6 adults, a toddler, 2 babies and 2 dogs! Very comfortable beds and lovely well equipped kitchen. Lovely large enclosed garden, great for toddlers and dogs, with sea views. Only a short walk to some great shops and eating places. Newport Sands only a short drive away - amazing vast sandy beach. We loved Cat Rock cafe- fab view and food. We definitely hope to come back.

Many thanks for your kind feedback Anne - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay! We love Cat rock too Property Owner

  • "Nice property in a lovely location let down by poorly maintained garden, dirty sheets (blood stains) and towels plus dirty hard flooring."

Shower in top bathroom not serviceable for adults as unable to stand up in bath.

  • "A fabulous house."

We loved the views, and the feeling of being deep in the countryside yet only a very short walk from all the facilities of Newport and down to the beach. Very comfortable beds and sitting area and well equipped kitchen - all very spacious and relaxing. A lovely garden in which to enjoy the sunshine.

  • "This house could be fantastic, but when we arrived it was dirty and unkempt."

The driveway and garden were covered in weeds and the grass hadn't been mowed in weeks, making the back lawn unuseable. There were no tea towels, hand towels, or any form of welcome pack. The fridge was dirty, there was dirty washing left in the washing machine, old soap left in the shower, and the windows inside and out were filthy. There is damp in the top bedroom which needs addressing, the extractor hood didn't work, there was no washing up bowl and no chain on the plug, stains on the bedroom rug, dirt under the sofas ... I could go on. The standards of cleanliness and maintenance were woeful. I must stress though that Coast and Country Holidays were fantastic in sorting out the issues promptly, but you shouldn't have to spend the first day of your holiday getting the house cleaned and the garden hacked back.

  • "Lovely property, perfectly located."

What let it down was the overgrown garden which couldn’t be enjoyed. Such a pity because if the grass had been cut and the garden looked after it would elevate the property further. It could also do with an outside washing line.

  • "The Cottage is beautiful and very unique in its layout over several levels."

It has beautiful views from the cottage and gardens. We had a few minor questions which were easily answered by the friendly team in the Coast & Country Holidays office a short walk away. Everything you need is provided to enjoy a self catering stay. We also found it was a very central location close to Fishguard Ferry Port and handy for touring other locations such as Pembroke and Cardigan definitely can't wait to visit again and explore more of the beautiful Welsh Countryside.
