Monica Isabel Beach Club

We really enjoyed this hotel so much so we have rebooked for May 2024. It may need some updating but the place spotless inside and outside. The rooms are big and comfortable. Food in the restaurant is good. All the staff are amazing. The beach is clean and there is a very nice restaurant and bar.

Lovely views overlooking the sea and beach which was 3 minutes walk away from the hotel. Loved the restaurant which again had views of the sea and coastline. Food in the restaurant was fresh with many choices to suit all tastes. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, plenty of space to sit outside and inside to relax. Accessible transport by taxi, bus, train or walking along the beach which had wooden walk ways linking to escalators and a lift up to the town. The hotel does have different types of rooms so if you find stairs difficult please state this to ensure you have a room all on one floor. Hotel entertainment was mixed - mini disco for the children and then traditional music/ dancing - if you want after 11pm entertainment then you need to go into the town. We would definitely return to this hotel but would have to ensure the same accommodation was booked - our preferences. Absolutely lovely hotel, view was beautiful and rooms were clean. Only issue was one air conditioning didn’t work, restaurant above the 7th floor wasn’t great! All you could hear was chairs and tables being scrapped across the floor, meaning mornings and nights you couldn’t sleep we’ll.

The last time I stayed in an all inclusive hotel as poor as this was 1993. Firstly the hotel is advertised as a beach club. It is close to a beach and has direct access but none of the facilities on the beach are included in the all inclusive package. Your not even allowed to take food or drink from the pool snack bar off the premises. A beach resort/beach club to me should be included in the all inclusive package as was the holiday we had in May in Turkey and all previous all inclusive beach resort holidays we have had in the last 10 years. The drinks were served in flimsy plastic cups although if you paid for your drink it came in a proper glass. When I queried this with the bar staff I was told "we have to serve the all inclusive drinks in the small plastic cups as the drinks are free. They are not free I paid for the all inclusive package and I paid well over the odds for the Monica Isabel Beach Club. £1364 for 2 Turkey in May which was a far superior hotel was only £918 for 2. I can understand plastic cups around a pool area but the main bar was absolutely nowhere near the pool. The restaurant wasn't big enough for the number of rooms/apartments and we had to que for every meal session. The hotel had added on accommodation blocks all around the main building but had never increased the facilities to account for this. Once we got a table there was often a wait for plates, there was insufficient cutlery some meals our table would be laid with butter knives and dessert forks to eat our main meal with. The gymnasium which was an important need for my choice of hotel had only ! exercise bike working. The treadmill was out of order and the multigym was so worn out it kept jamming and it was impossible to use it. There were no free weights to use. The indoor pool smelled terrible and only half the jets on the whirlpool bath were working. Staff attitude was like they were doing us a favour allowing us to be there and we should be grateful for what we were given. All in all If you've already booked I would change it and if you're thinking of booking it DON''T. I know sometimes different people see places differently and if it had been a cheap holiday I would have excepted some of poor quality but this was extremely expensive for what was there and I certainly would never return to the Monica Isabel Beach Club it is a hell hole.

this hotel was clean and tidy, very well located for the pool, the beach and also for a morning walk into town. the shuttle bus was much appreciated for the return back at lunch time. the food was good and again you could eat as much or as little as you wanted to, plenty of choice at all meals Thank you

Hotel well positioned with beach front. Our room was not a room but a suit, very clean with a sea view. All the staff we came in contact with were very polite and helpful. The food could have been better but it was adequate. Outside pool small for the number of guests staying. We would stay here again.

Great hotel , wonderful location , lots of space in apartments , clean , well organised , staff are very polite and very helpful . Drinks and snacks ok , meal are ok but nothing wow and bad things that sometimes you have to wait a bit to take a food .

Room was in need of a good overall, shower sprayed more water over the floor, taps on sink was loose, food was basic staff in restaurant was very good, pool bar staff was nice to but most staff in many bar was poor and entertainment was crap

Was here in July 2018 for 11 nights and everything about this hotel waa perfect apart from the pilliows which where a bit hard and lumpy and no kettel in room but the staff where all very friendly and welcoming are are there to help at anytime, hotel apartments where all you needed and lovely area and right at the beach, they provide everything you need on holiday, would defiantely recommend it and will defiantely be back

15 cockroaches in 14 days, overcrowded restaurant, poor cleanliness, delapidated hotel, poor quality alcohol & spirits in plastic cups even at times coffee as the cups and saucers ran out. Entertainment rubbish targeted mainly for children good job World Cup was on to be able to escape! Top tip - don’t go here I think you need to find at least a 4 star hotel or self cater the food is great & reasonable priced locally. Saving grace beautiful weather with fantastic beach and lovely people

Hotel is quite dated and shabby which is a shame as the layout of the complex and its location is super, even a lick of paint would improve the interior appearance. The pool is adequate, Rooms/ apartments are of 3* standard. The food was a let down , canteen food on offer so ate out most evenings. Night time entertainment was awful. Bar staff very friendly, restaurant staff miserable and rude.

felt so sorry for people with walking difficulties we were in apartments on level 1 reception level 6 was a VERY high incline and in heat not good Old town is absolutely beautiful if we go back would stay there

In-between old and new town. 5 euros for taxi back from old town. Nice walk approx. 20mins on beach. Sea freezing. Dinning ok but not enough staff on to clear tables fast enough for new eaters. Food limited so ate out a lot. Dreaded plastic cups for drinks. Pool not big enough for size of hotel. Noise level at night debateable from other rooms.....eg had a snorer next door! Nice holiday never been to Portugal before.

Fantastic location, friendly staff, a bit dated but signs of updating going on while we were there. Food Good, on par with any other 3 and 4 star All Inclusive we have been to. Restaurant too small to cope with busy periods. The staff in the restaurant work very hard to clear tables, get drinks and welcome guests. Pools very cold. Yes the hotel is on an incline and not really suitable for guests with walking difficulties but it does say this on the hotel information so I don't know why people moan about this. Bar staff very Good, never had to wait in queue of more than 2 or 3 people. Animation team work very hard to try and entertain without being pushy. Their facilities could do with a bit of updating though. Beds very firm and bordering uncomfortable. Information given about facilities could be better eg kids club etc. Expect 3 star and that's what you get. Enjoyed our family holiday.
