This is a crochet pattern for the ‘Seaside Stash Busting Blanket’ which I hosted as a 35 week ‘Crochet Along’ on my blog www.coastalcrochet.com from January - September 2018. All the details remain on my blog. It became a worldwide community project with people from over 50 different countries crocheting this blanket! The original blanket was made using only yarns I had in my stash. The variety of stitch combinations and colours were inspired each week by the textures and colours of the seaside.
The pattern is now available as a printer friendly version here in my Etsy shop and comes in both UK and US crochet terminology.
The original pattern was a genuine stash buster using DK weight yarns. You can use whichever yarns you like but for the best results make sure they are all the same yarn weight and the same yarn type. You can use as many or as little colours as you like. My original blanket had a total of 16 colours in it but for the purpose of this pattern I have based it on 10 colours.
My finished blanket using DK acrylic yarn measures approximately 110cm x 130cm (43 x 51in) but this size will vary depending on your tension and chosen yarn type.
The pattern also remains free over on my blog in 35 weekly instalments and there are links to YouTube video tutorials for the trickier stitches.

It’s a fun project which is designed to use up existing yarn stash, so be creative with colours!
