A pattern called "Rowan & Rose" by a shop called Rowan and Rose...not confusing at all! Growing up in a Ukrainian/Russian household I was very influenced by traditional Slavic folk art. The name of my shop comes from two of my favorite motifs: the rowan berries from Khokhloma lacquer painting and the roses frequently seen on wood blocked woolen shawls worn in Eastern Europe.
This design was inspired by these two motifs. I wanted to create something that incorporated rowan berries and roses together as a logo for my store. What started out as a fairly simple design (she was originally just a head) kept on evolving and eventually became this pattern.
To top off the theme is a golden shawl complete with fringe and roses as well as two bullfinches (one of Eastern Europe’s most common birds and synonymous with the Rowan tree) happily munching on berries. She also wears tiny golden earrings complete with French knot studs!
This listing is for a PDF pattern. No physical items will be sent.

***Not Included: If you are cross stitching for the first time this pattern does not include instructions on how to cross stitch. I am working on a "Cross Stitching Beginners Guide" and should have one available as a free download with all my patterns in the next few months. Until then there are many excellent resources online that can teach you everything you need to know. Cross stitching is a great place to start if you are just entering the world of stitching and embroidery. It is very beginner friendly!
