Announcement
I'm Umberto Ragazzi, born and raised in Murano, a well known professional in Venice, among other things one of the creators of the Murano glass goldfish bowls and bags
https://www.muranonet.com/unfold-venice/murano-glass-aquariums
When you see a Murano glass item for sale you have to ask yourself:
1) Who is its creator. The works of a known Venetian artisan can increase their value over time. A professional Venetian artist has a VAT ID and a Company Registration Number (my one is VE 307423), at least a laboratory.
2) Where it was made. Suppose you're French and I'm in Italy. I tell you that I make an excellent French wine. And if you tell me that I'm not French, I reply saying that I use the adjective "French" because I use French grapes only to make my wine, although I'm surrounded by many and beautiful vineyards here in Italy. Maybe it's true. What are the chances ? Think of it when you see Murano glass items made outside Venice, especially in places where glass is cheaper than in Murano. Indeed, there are great glass artists all over the world. They don't need to call their products "Murano glass" if it isn't.
3) Ask a guarantee of the author's name even if you buy in Venice. The fact is that both glass and labour cost in other places of the world are lower. Hence even Venice is plenty of foreign glass items. Often, tourists want the cheapest souvenirs, they don't care where the gondola comes from, they want it to remind them of the city.

Frequently asked questions
Gift wrapping and packaging
Gift wrapping will be soon available in some countries. Be patient. I've been making glass sculptures since 1974 but I just opened my online store for the first time ever. I'm gradually uploading items and increasing options ! If you mark your order as a gift and the shipping address is in Europe, I will not put an invoice in it. Outside the European Union, sometimes I'm compelled to put the invoice in the package because of customs.
In any case, each item will be accompanied by a Certificate of authenticity signed by me. This is also very useful if a day you want to resell your item. A glass item made by a Muranese artisan retains or even increases its value.
Shipping times for Europe and USA
HEADS UP for US CUSTOMERS: DURING THE COVID CRISIS THERE ARE DELAYS. Bottlenecks at the US customs and late tracking update. Shipping will take a lot longer.
Europe: my courier states that 85 % of packages are delivered in 10 business days on average, and it's proven to be correct. Near festivities shipping could take longer and I cannot guarantee a date.
The USA: In 10 business days the packet is usually on US soil. Once there, sometimes it's checked by customs and then becomes a USPS Registered mail with the shipping time of the USPS Registered mails. The overall average shipping time is 14 business days. However, some packets could take longer, up to a month or so. I've no control over it and I cannot guarantee a delivery date.
What if the glass figurines get broken when travelling ?
No problem. Send me a photo *on the day of delivery* (not later) and I will ship you a new perfect item!
Wholesale availability
If you have a shop and want some of my items, contact me and we can talk about it. I have no employees. I hand-make all my creations that I sell in my online store, hence don't expect that I can offer huge quantities.
Is the figurine that I will receive exactly identical to the ones in the photos ?
Only industrial mass-produced items are identical. Each handmade sculpture can be slightly different from the others for shape or colour shade, dimensions (millimetres). This is the reason I prefer to show dimensions making a comparison with fingers or coins. The veins of the glass differ in each handmade creation. What's sure is that each piece is made with the same commitment and love.
How do you make these micro figurines ?
I use the traditional Murano technique called "vetro a lume", similar to the so-called "lampworking", or to the french "Verre au chalumeau". However, the glass used in other parts of the world is often different.
Craftsmen might state that they use Murano glass only to say that they work the glass in a way similar to the original one.
My figurines are genuine Murano glass figurines, made in the traditional way, in Venice, by me, Umberto Ragazzi, a well known Muranese former athlete and then glassmaker.

Eventually, I am a professional glass maker, with a VAT ID (IT03423880271), business registration number (VE 307423), a physical artisan studio and shop, I've been making glass since 1974
Custom and personalized orders
If you want a variation of an item (for instance, if you wish to change the color, add a crown, a hat or another particular to a little animal, or make it a pendant), you have to make a custom order. Don't buy the animal you want to modify and then ask the modification adding a note. Thank you.
