Why LinenDuet?
LinenDuet is an online shop run by two sisters who have teamed up to bring you beautiful handcrafted fabric designs. Since childhood, we’ve shared a passion for crafting, designing, and creating things with our hands.
The products in our shop combine linen fabric, lace, and embroidery in a variety of colors. Each item is ethically handmade and thoughtfully created with love and care. We’re so thrilled to be able to share our passion for craftsmanship with you!
Why Linen?
We love working with linen fabric because of its versatility and unique characteristics. One of the most interesting facts about linen is that the more you use and wash it, the softer and more comfortable the fabric becomes. Perhaps surprisingly, linen’s tensile strength is twice as high as that of cotton and 3 times higher than wool.
Another impressive fact about linen - it doesn’t accumulate static electricity. It’s amazing but true that even 10% linen in a fabric blend is enough to eliminate the effect of static electricity! Linen wicks away moisture and repels stains, making it an excellent fabric for tablecloths, bedding, clothing, and so much more.
Linen is the ideal “green” fabric. The flax plant from which it’s derived enriches the soil and every part of the plant is used. Linen is also biodegradable, giving it an ecological advantage over man-made fibers. Some people also claim that linen is ideal for people with allergies or eczema because it’s resistant to fungus and bacteria. Clearly, linen fabric is meant to surround us in our everyday lives and to be used for sewing items that we need and use all of the time, like bedding and clothing.
