Extra Clothing/Warm Layers: raincoat, puffy jacket & fleece 4. Sun Protection: hat, sun hoodie, sunglasses, sunscreen & Buff 5. First Aid Kit, Poop Kit (with a kulacloth) & Repair/Tool Kit (with a knife & waterproof matches) 6. Water Filtration System: with water ready to drink 7. Electrolytes 8. Emergency Shelter/Space Blanket, Headlamp (Make sure it’s charged!), Satellite Messenger (Make sure it’s charged!) &!Bear Spray (I hike in grizzly country!) 9. Plenty of Hiking Snacks 10. A Good Pair of Socks: I love darntoughvermont! 11. A Comfortable Pair of Shoes (I prefer to hike in trail runners) & ultragamgaiters to keep the debris out of my shoes 12. My thru.pack Summit Bum fanny pack to carry my phone with a downloaded map of the area I plan on hiking in, car keys, wallet & The Hungry Hiker stickers in 13. My sense of adventure No matter how long (or short) of a hike you plan on going on, ALWAYS make sure you pack the 10 Essentials.
