THIS IS THE DOWNLOADABLE VERSION OF THE FRANCIS TEDDY BEAR PATTERN FOR YOU TO PRINT AT HOME/WORK/PRINT SHOP ETC.
The Francis Teddy Bear sewing pattern makes a sweet traditional Barbara-Ann Bear about 14 inches (36 cm) tall.
Francis is a very sweet teddy bear, he has quite a big tummy and loves a cuddle. You can see the bears we've made with our Francis teddy bear pattern so far, one in our 9mm Golden Corn mohair, one in dense red mohair and another in velvet, we think they look very sweet.. You could use slightly longer mohair or you could make him using other fabric, as a memory bear for example. The pieces fit together easily, there are no darts and no need to gather pieces in order to make them fit. He's a bear you can make in a comfortable chair while watching TV and suitable for sewing by hand or machine.
The pattern includes all the instructions you need to make your bear with some diagrams for the more difficult parts. The pattern and instructions are on 13 x A4 sheets and are full sized.
We have also included some tips and guidance for making a memory bear from items of clothing.
You'll need a 1/4 metre (50 x 70 cm or 25cm x 140cm) of mohair or another fabric
paw pad material (20x25cm)
10mm shoe button or black glass eyes
2 x 35mm and 3x 45mm joints
Polyester stuffing
We use plastic pellets in the feet, hands, ankles, wrists and tummy to make him a little saggier and cuddly.
If you need any of the items necessary to make your bear, mohair, wool felt, eyes, sewing thread, strong button thread, bear making tools, polyester stuffing or glass beads, please contact us and we can supply what you need, you'll just need to pay for them separately.
We use A4 and A3 paper for our patterns, the US equivalents are Legal and Tabloid/Ledger, if you are using 'Letter' size 8.5” x 11”, you will need to use 'fit to page, or 'shrink to fit' to be able to fit the pattern on your paper, it will just make your bear about 5% smaller.
Please note that the completed bear is not a toy and is unsuitable for children under the age of 14, it is a collector's bear.
