- Great BootThink this is a great boot. Most people looking for barefoot shoes are a self selected. For me personally, I have hip and knee conditions, along with migraines, and notice when I wear a barefoot shoe, my symptoms are much improved as my natural posture is supported. Specifically this boot is attractive, comfortable and constructed nicely. If you have big calves like me, you may not be able to get over pants, but I'm fine with tights. Also, if you have wide feet or high arches, might have to go 1/2 size up, which I think they recommend anyway.

- Ryder BootsI was on the fence about these boots for a while and could not decide if I should keep them or return them. The shaft is a bit tight. I would appreciate more room. Otherwise, these are lovely. I love that they are leather and can be dressed up or down. After wearing them around my house for a bit with wool socks, the shaft seemed to stretch out a bit and I decided to keep them. I’m glad I did!

- Just what I've been looking for!I've transitioned all my shoes to minimalist footwear but I was still looking for black boots. These boots are just what I've been looking! These boots are very comfortable and fit great. I have average size calfs and the zipper just closes, larger size calfs may have a problem with fit.

- Love these bootsI've been wearing these boots for a few months now and I LOVE THEM. I was looking for a more durable winter boot and stumbled across vivobarefoot. Switching to a barefoot shoe has been a game changer and delightful surprise. My feet and calves are happy even when I am standing all day and my toes love the natural width in the toe box.

- On the fenceI wanted to love these boots so much! I wear my Gobi high tops almost every day but have been wanting a knee-high boot to dress up.
When they arrived I was disappointed to find the entire back half of the boot is neoprene. It's hard to tell from the pictures on the website.
My husband took one look and told me they looked just like his ice fishing boots. Not the look I'm going for. :(
They will be just fine to wear with jeans and a sweater, but unfortunately they would look out of place worn with a fancy dress or skirt.Posted on
- So comfortableI love my new boots! Super comfortable and very flexible. They are a little right in the calf area so you can’t layer very thick and also the toe box is the exact width of my foot and I don’t have a wide foot so if you do you may not have as much room as you would hiope. Overall I’m very pleased!

- Great stretch on calf but narrow toe boxI love vivobarefoot shoes. I've been buying them for quite a few years now and was really excited to see this boot. What's more - the stretchy back of the boot means that it fits my wide calves! This almost never happens with normal shoes, so it was extra great to find this in a minimalist boot.
HOWEVER, I plan to return the boots because the toe box is too narrow. Comparing it to my other vivo shoes, it's a little longer and narrower, and I can feel how confined my toes are in it. It feels like a more normal toe box, rather than the typical, wide toe box of a minimalist shoe. I really hope they fix this with the next iteration of the boot, cause I was really excited about this!Posted on

- Ryder bootOne boot for great, the other a tad big, but still pretty comfortable. I ended up returning them as I got a size 10 and they were very unflattering and made my feet look quite like duck feet. I will try another bout, probably the boogie butt I was really looking for an all day comfortable boot that could transition to going out while I am traveling.

- Loving my Ryder boots!Knee high boots that are great for work ....and the gym? It's true. I am obsessed with my Ryder boots. I was searching for comfortable and stylish boots to wear on my commute and at work. Found them! They're perfect. I even wore them for a workout when I forgot my gear and they were wonderfully supportive (for both yoga and HIIT). We got our first snow and I've never had cold feet--even without socks. Amazing!

- Great company but not much wiggle roomI love Vivo and own the Gobi, and Jing Jing. I need a boot for winter in the northwest so decided to buy these. They are very narrow in the calf. I had overflow at the top of the calf and no room for longer socks. I was surprised being a size 11 and normal BMI that it would not fit around my calf. If the stretch material on the back had more give this would be a better booty.

- Black bootthe boot fit me true to size. After trying it on, I felt like the boot reminded me of wearing a wetsuit because of the material on the back side. They were comfortable but I didn’t love the appearance so I am returning them.

- My favorite Vivo product yet!These boots are spectacular. I am a sports chiropractor and spend a lot of time working on patients who problems stem from their feet. These boots are insanely comfortable with absolutely no “break in” time. Warm and toasty.
The back is a neoprene so they give even though at first you think they will be too tight. They stay put and my feet love them. I’d give these out to all my female patients!Posted on
- The best boots!These boots are great. They look like fashion boots and pair wonderfully with skirts and dresses. But of course they are perfectly comfortable to walk in, too. The fit is just right for me. Would not work for somebody with large calves.

- Great bootsThese are awesome boots! I love keeping my feet warm in winter AND being able to feel the ground and have light feet. A couple things I would change is that they are a bit tight on the top of the balls of my feet (& my feet are narrow) and a bit tight in the ankles. I’m hoping it won’t cause any chafing or blisters on my longer hikes. And, they may stretch to be a perfect fit — I’ll find out as I wear them. And these are the most comfortable boots I’ve tried on yet! :-) Thanks!

- Even in the snow...My boots arrived just prior to the cold fall rains and start of snowstorms. I have worn them outside in the rain, sleet, and snow and they are so comfortable and warm. Not as solid on the ice as I would like, but overall a solid winter boot despite the light weight. Also VERY waterproof even in deep puddles!

- I Love TheseWhen I received these boots I kept looking at them and saying..are these cute? are these weird looking? because of the neoprene back. After some days, of consideration, I ripped off the tags and started wearing them. I needed a warm boot, and I hadn't seen any other more stylish tall barefoot boot out there. They are very comfortable. The leather is so soft and beautiful. The neoprene hugs closely, is responsive, and feels good. I still wonder if the neoprene may look a bit odd, but in the end, the full package won out and I'm very happy with them. My normal size fits perfectly.

- New Fave!I finally found a boot that fits my calf! I’ve always had a tough time finding boots that fit my foot and calf at the same time. Too many times my legs just swim in boots and end up looking real awkward. Nice and roomy toe box, good insulation, easy to put on, and look great. Not too dressy, so great for a casual + outfit.

- Nice!Nice. Don’t think I could wear high socks with them as they barely fit over my calves but may loosen with time. Stiffer than my Vivo Grace Boots — may be for the temperature control —so I don’t get quite the same amount of overall foot and ankle mobility. The foot is also a bit narrower. They have more immediate style than the Grace’s which needed some time to get a slouch to avoid looking like galoshes.

- Great BootsThese are the best minimal boots I have found. I absolutely love the tight calves. Most tall boots are way too loose on my calves. I can still feel the ground too. They could be a little bit more fashionable looking but these will work for me. Very comfortable. I wear a 10 1/2 and I ordered an 11. They fit perfectly!

- Perfect Riding Style Minimal BootI am so excited about this riding style boot. After wanting and watching for a minimal tall dress boot for the past 2 years, I was thrilled that Vivobarefoot brought this version of the Ryder out. The stretch back is very comfortable on my calves. I have medium to large calves and full leather would squeezes the circulation out of my legs. As soon as these arrived I wore them to work 3 days in a row. So far they have paired perfectly with all my work dresses. I also plan to wear them with leggings. For size, I am around an 8.5 and own several pairs of Vivo boots and tennis shoes. I buy my shoes now for Houston weather, which is for light weight socks. I have a pair of ankle boots in 39 and always find they need to have thick socks to feel secure. So I ordered the 38 in the Ryder and am perfectly happy with the fit. I wear thin PACT tall socks.

- ReviewI love the design of these boots but I had to order two pair before I got one in which the soles were sewn in a way that it didn’t cause my foot to immediately invert. I’d love it if you were more careful with the construction in the future because I really do love your shoes.

- Cool looking bootsThese boots are made of beautifully soft leather on the front and the foot, and a thin neoprene-like material around the calf. This makes them really comfortable as they move with you. I am really happy to have barefoot tall boots!

- Beautiful but too narrowOne more thing -- the 100 day trial is confusing. While it mentions the 110day trial on product info page, once you receive the boot it says must be returned within 30 days with no signs of wear so very confusing!

- Pretty much exactly what I hoped forSadly because I am in California even though it is almost November it is still too hot to wear these puppies, but I am excited. Just wearing them around the house to confirm fit told me that they are just as comfortable as the half-dozen other Vivo styles I own. For those who need to know: the top circumference is 35cm, but with the neoprene there is a fair amount of stretch - my calves are 37cm where the top of the boot hits and these fit well. If I owned some I think I could fit jeggings inside as well, but definitely not standard jeans.

- I wanted to love these...These are cute boots and I wanted to love them, but they were tight in the toe box and a little floppy in the heel. I have wide toes, but narrow heels. I tried them without the insoles, but then my foot slipped forward as I walked so I don't think sizing up would have helped. I also didn't like look or feel of neoprene mixed with leather. As a reference, the primus trail's fit me great.

- dislike the neopreneI'm super torn on whether or not I like this boot. I was really excited to get it because there are almost no tall boots for minimalist wearers and Vivo has come out with some pretty ugly ones in the past. This one looked sleek and stylish so I bought them.
Well, the whole backside of the boot is made out of neoprene, not leather. The description says it has a neoprene "back panel" but it really is the entire back end of the boot all the way down to the sole of the shoe. Originally I couldn't tell from the pictures but if you look closely you can.
They are comfortable, but I am disappointed about no leather on the back because I would never wear them to dressier occasions. And because the neoprene is so tight it tugs at my pants and I worry that it will pull at my pants all day (I have small calfs, so it has never been a problem in the past). I wish Vivo would make a non-insulated knee high version of their Gobi shoe.Posted on
- Just what I've been looking for!I have been looking for an easy on/off barefoot boot to keep me warm and dry through the Pacific Northwest winter for years, and while I have only had these boots for a few weeks and it is still just fall, I am already loving them. They easily fit over fitted pants and under bootcut pants, they don't make my skinny legs look even skinnier, they perfectly walk the line between dressy and casual, and I suspect these will be the only shoes I wear (outside the barn where I wear actual riding or work boots), until it is dry enough to get back into my moccasins next summer. Provided they don't fall apart between now and then, I am one happy customer.

- So Far, So GoodI've only worn these a couple of times, so I'll update my review once I've gotten a better sense of how these hold up to winter weather. But so far, I love them! The design is very sleek and wearing them around they look like a classic knee high boot, they don't scream barefoot shoe. The boots are super comfortable and I like the neoprene back and the way it fits to my leg. Some other reviews mentioned that these ran big, so I got my normal 7.5 rather than sizing up to an 8 the way I usually would on boots. The 7.5s are perfect, comfortable but with room to wear thick wool socks, which are definitely a must given the thin soles. Overall I'm very happy, these are boots I'll be able to wear to professional meetings and to look polished this winter without giving up my barefoot lifestyle.

- Want to love these...I have worn these for a few days, and loved them at first. Warm and comfortable. However, I wore them walking around the town for the day, and my toes had blisteres by the end up the day. I have many pairs of Vivo's and have never had blisters before.

- Beautiful but not for thick calvesThese boots are beyond lovely. The leg is leather in the front and has a thick stretchy material in the back allowing some give but pretty lean in space there overall. These are just on the edge of too tight for my athletic, healthy, barefoot calves. I’m hoping they will stretch a bit with time.

- Awesome dress boot!This is another favorite purchase from Vivo- this boot is my go-to dress shoe for fall through spring weather. Super comfy, the fabric half of the boot shaft offers give, but still hugs the leg for a sleek look. I typically am finding that I need to order a size up in Vivos, while I’m a 9-9.5 US in non barefoot shoes, a 10 US fits much better in Vivos.

- Nice minimalist bootI haven’t owned these for very long, but I love them already. I have been looking for a nice minimalist boot. Now, I need a pair in brown.
One thing to note: if you have calves on the bigger side, these might not work for you. I have average-sized athletic calves and they JUST fit. If my calves were any bigger, they would be too tight at the top.Posted on
- Can't wait to wear these!I just bought these boots for fall/winter and when i tried them on i got so excited because they felt like the most comfortable Vivos i have and also most comfortable shoe i've ever worn. I can't wait to wear them!! They are also sleek/dressy and modern which is a huge plus. I'm also picky about cheap looking zippers on things. The zipper on these is black so you don't really see it and also the pull tab is a unique black and quality looking one so i was happy about that. Good job Vivo!

- Love!I've been wanting knee-high barefoot boots that I can wear to work for years now. These are 7.5 but I usually wear 8, so they run a little big for me. I ordered both sizes for a side-by-side comparison. These are so comfortable and cute. They make my feet happy! And I like the non-leather fabric along the back.
