We stayed at The Front Porch for 3 nights with our dog. Comfortable and cozy room. Kitchen equipped with everything you need (pots, plates, cutlery, oil, salt etc...). Very comfortable bed. The peculiarity of this hotel is that everything is quiet, in front of our bedroom (#4) there is a porch with waterfalls which are very relaxing. The external hot tubs are surrounded by plants and green, silent and very cozy. If you are traveling with your four-legged friend we recommend a hike in the "Arcata Community Forest" literally 5 minutes from the hotel. Trails are easy and surrounded by massive redwoods. If you prefer the beach, "Moonstone Beach County Park" is the perfect place to relax, read a book and walk with your dog (pet friendly beach).

We had to leave like 1 hour in the hotel!!! We had a homeless guy pass by and stare at our room through our window. He gave us a look like he would come back later and try to do something to us…. It was very scary as I have 2 young daughters. This trip turned out to be the worst experience EVER!!! I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to a family. Maybe a single male yes.
I only stopped overnight. I wish I could have stayed another day to explore the shops on the Arcata Plaza. They have good restaurants and a Farmers market on Saturday morning. Definitely worth a couple of days to explore shopping and nature.

location was great as we came with our boys for a Humboldt Cal
Poly college tour. we could only stay 1 night but the location was great as it was only 6 minutes from the campus which was helpful given that we had a 9am tour.
We ate dinner at the Madrone Brick fire place pizza place which was delicious. The cooking of the pizzas was slow but we enjoyed out family time together and they were fantastic when they came, so plan on having time to visit with your family or friends. It's worth the wait! We then went to the homemade Ice cream shop in town by the bay.

Beautiful town! Great marketplace on Saturdays.
Beautiful town! Great marketplace on Saturdays. People are super friendly. Laid-back chill vibe. There's a restaurant right next to the Ramada called Tony's. That's open 24 hours and their food is excellent

The beaches are amazing.
The beaches are amazing. I wish we had time to go through the Avenue of the Giants. We focused on the ocean and the shops. Lots of eclectic art and jewelry. There are certain areas to avoid due to vagrants.

Arcata is close to many wonderful side trips.
Arcata is close to many wonderful side trips. It has a vibrant Saturday farmer's market. Interesting shops on the square and a great co-op. Otherwise it's run down and best used as a home base for exploring the area.

The area seems to be experiencing a recessive state, homeless people everywhere, very few places to eat, many places shut down. It's right off the freeway up the coast and close to the ocean....it just seems run-down.
I only had tea. Charming old hotel but that comes at a price with poor plumbing drainage in bathroom sink. Ild Carpet mildew strong odor in/out the room. Paid extra for space vut only had a crowded room with unnecessary large bed. Booking.com advertised as larger room but it was not just had larger bed. Hotel cud not refund or chg room due to booking through booking.com. I had a pair of pants disappear. No one came to freshen room or make beds unless u asked them to do it. Wound nit recommend this place.
I loved everything about this hotel. It was quiet, very clean and updated, good mattress and linens, fluffy towels, nice landscaping and the morning breakfast was very good. My room had a coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge, what more can you ask for? Easy on and off from the Freeway. Staff very friendly and helpful. They also have a pool and hot tub, though I didn't use it.
Great location near 101, not far from Arcata, Eureka, Sonomoa, or Trinidad. Lots of options on the otherside of the freeway with gas stations and a nice grocery store, Ray's. The breakfast buffett room was closed to avoid indoor close contact, but they offered a descent go-bag of non-perishable items which came in handy for hiking or being on the road.
Breakfast was satisfactory Bathroom was really small, no towel racks so hung them in the closet, dispensers were empty, toilet roll was mostly empty upon arrival so I had to go to the office to get more. This is a very old hotel. Overpriced but this time of year they all are.
I love staying in hotels that with s feeling of history about them. Hotel Arcata is over a hundred years old and, even though it has been modernized in functional ways, it still feels as it must have in the roaring twenties. It's also good value.
Hotel was clean, Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful....Room was well appointed and amenities were a plus having a microwave, refrigerator and in room coffee.
A beautiful oasis in Arcata. Quiet. Loved all the attention to detail and little sitting areas.
Even nicer than pictured.
The sauna and baths were glorious.
Great location, 20min walk from downtown and 2min walk to arcata community forest. Clean, quaint, no complaints. Deck and bbq were great for summertime trip.
