Exceptional Optical Performance
The Pentax-D FA HD 21mm f2.4 ED Limited DC WR Lens features an intricate and highly advanced optical makeup that consists of 11 elements arranged into 8 groups. To maximise the image quality, Pentax incorporated the use of four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical elements that both minimise chromatic aberration and prevent colour bleeding.
In addition, the first group of lenses is equipped with a large-aperture negative meniscus optical element, a biconvex aspherical glass-mold optical element, and a high-refraction glass optical element. The use of these specific lenses reduces the overall size of the lens despite its ultra-wide-angle deisgn, yet still delivers exceptional image quality.
Finally, Pentax has incorporated its premium patented original HD coating. This is a high-grade multi-layer coating is used to reduce internal reflections that can cause flare and ghosting. With this advanced Pentax technology, these coatings will reduce the average reflectance in the visible spectrum to less than 50 per cent, effectively reducing unwanted flare and ghosting even difficult backlit shooting conditions.
