Hello Colleen, I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the product received. In the description of the item, the width of the basket is advertised as 7.5". As can be seen in the photos, the basket curves slightly towards the base, which does make the bottom of the basket slightly smaller in width. This is the same situation with the length, as 10.5" is the maximal length at the top of the basket with some gradual narrowing towards the base. The basket that you received was handcrafted according to these measurements. Kind regards, Michelle
