Summary

In this gripping thriller, an ex-agent on the run from her former employers must take one more case to clear her name and save her life.

She used to work for the US government, but very few people ever knew that. An expert in her field, she was one of the darkest secrets of an agency so clandestine it doesn't even have a name. And when they decided she was a liability, they came for her without warning.

Now she rarely stays in the same place or uses the same name for long. They've killed the only other person she trusted, but something she knows still poses a threat. They want her dead, and soon.

When her former handler offers her a way out, she realises it's her only chance to erase the giant target on her back. But it means taking one last job for her ex-employers. To her horror, the information she acquires only makes her situation more dangerous.

Resolving to meet the threat head-on, she prepares for the toughest fight of her life but finds herself falling for a man who can only complicate her likelihood of survival. As she sees her choices being rapidly whittled down, she must apply her unique talents in ways she never dreamed of.

In this tautly plotted novel, Meyer creates a fierce and fascinating new heroine with a very specialised skill set. And she shows once again why she's one of the world's best-selling authors.

Romance? Action?

Overall its was an enjoyable story and well read.
My issue was that after a strong start with action and intrigue it suddenly jumped to being a soppy teenage girl romance. Then when it picked up pace again, the protagonists would contunue delve into the most ludicrous romantic angst, having ridiculous conversations about love and emotions.

Interesting and finally a Strong Female Lead!

Good departure from Ms Meyer's other famous work. I liked Juliana/Alex and the narrator's performance strengthened the overall story.

Loved it!

At first, I struggled a bit with the reading as this lady sounds bit like Siri or Alexa, but the story seemed interesting so I kept going. However from the moment dialogues started, and some emotions were added, it was clear where is the strong side of Ellen Archer and it got really good. I absolutely loved the story, you can definitely tell it is Stephenie Meyer book if you are Twilight fan, but it’s totally new kind of story and very enjoyable! I couldn’t stop listening, definitely will listen to this book again, probably soon :) Well worth it!

The Chemist in

I really enjoyed this book, although I found it a bit o.t.t. at times. The narration was superb! I would recommend this book.

An exciting read!

This is very different from Stephanie's twilight series. I didn't know what to expect, but it was fast paced and exciting.
The characters were believable and likeable, despite what the chemist used to do.
With the added element of a bit of romance, this story has everything you need.

Another winner from a great writer

A complete change from the Twilight books but still a great story well written and well worth listening to.
