With distressed finishing and a three-dimensional relief of an early aviator, our personalized Airplane Pilot wood sign harkens back to the Golden Age of aviation. In those days, pilots branched out to support their newfound expensive “addiction”, and our humorous sign names just a few, including Skywriting, Sightseeing, Airmail, Storm Chasing and Barnstorming. Multi-plank construction adds to the old world look.

Top part comes “as is”, but you can pick your own personalization on the lower name board, which hangs on brass hooks. We’ve shown just one example---using the date a pilot earned his wings---but the possibilities are endless. The unfinished back side makes a great place to sign with marker if given as a graduation or retirement gift.

Our bells are cast of solid brass, and should require minimal care to retain their beautiful patina for many years. We recommend using a damp, soft cloth to clean and buff, and then immediately drying with a separate dry cloth. Do NOT use cleaners with harsh solvents such as Windex, 409, etc. These chemicals can react with the brass surface. The use of chemical oxidizing agents can darken the surface along with any small scratches or imperfections. The acid on your fingers can also react, so please use only the pull rope when ringing the bell.

Beautiful quality and it definitely met/exceeded my expectations. There was a slight problem with the screw holes in the personalized piece, but A Simpler Time immediately remade it and got it to me very quickly. This is an 80th birthday present for a friend and long-time flyer, so I know he will be thrilled with it!!
