A remarkable and startling book. Beautiful, articulate, poetic, romantic. It’s gorgeous and a total must read if you are a mother. So lovely to read a book that speaks about the experience with all the raw emotion that it entails.

Addictive and beautifully honest ...

Clover ... I’ve just finished your Wild & Sleepless nights on audio. I feel that saddening feeling when a good story ends. Thank you for writing with such imagination and honesty. Simply best book about motherhood

Well what can I say? This book is beautifully written, tender, honest about the highs and lows of motherhood. Clover is a mum of 5 children, she speaks openly about her feelings, the feeling we feel as a mum, but are too scared to speak out about. Second book from Clover, who an exceptional writer, very talented with words and is compelling honest. This book is a rare book that makes you feel normal. Thank you Clover !!

Superb

I loved this book. The way it describes motherhood-the highs and lows-the sheer visceral nature of it was like nothing else I had read before. Clover articulated so much of what is unspoken within me and our society.

A brave, beautifully written and honest account of being a mother.

Clover Stroud writes beautifully on motherhood, family and the relationships within. I literally could not put this book down and finished it in two days flat. It is an honest and frank account, bravely written by a captivating writer. I am now looking forward to reading The Wild Other.

You have it right.....

Dear Clover,

Thank you so much for taking deep breaths you would have done many a times writing the way you do. Raw, rugged and truthful. I too have felt what you have from beginning to end and the tiredness and endless emotional break downs mother hood brings. I have grown with one being a young mum and enjoyed the second more. Due to a horrendous past I have had 4 abortions and finally gave birth to my two daughters safe and sound. They are growing now and the way you were with Lester was the way I am and was with my second. My first like you and Jimmy are so close but yet each bond whether I see my other children in spirit or my two daughters reflections in a mirror as they apply there make up, I will always love them endlessly and that I feel my darling is love.

The part of the owl in the night sky as he looked back at you and your son that evening whilst you were in the car, I hope you felt the loving and watchful eye of your dearest mum.

A heavy, raw account from another angle of mother hood. You’ll enjoy it if you are happy with feeling your emotions.

She’s given the words that motherhood deserves

I am adamant that clover is a vastly underrated writer. She writes almost musically, it reminds me how Jo Malone speaks about scents having colours and patterns, she has a 6th sense for it, Clover is this to writing. I wish her every success, it’s definitely coming xx
