A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park-...
A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park- negociate locally for the 40 min drive in a Tuk Tuk ( 9000 lks is about right). It has a nice lake to walk around. The Rough Guide though old is still very useful. The centre is small and compact with good facilities .. The exception is the 'Tourist Office' close to the bus station.. It is close to useless - dont look for impartial advice as the owner has his own Tuk Tuk!. Victora Park is worth a stroll.

Quaint little town in the hills.
Quaint little town in the hills. So, cooler climate and perfect spot to take a break from the sweltering heat in Colombo. La Grande Villa is just a 10 minute walk from town and a 5 bedroom boutique hotel, which makes it the ideal place for a quiet, restful stop before Ella.

Nuwara Eliya is a sleepy town nestled within acres of tea estates , which has maintained a lot of its colonial buildings that it almost looks like a different country altogether. Hence the name Little England.
It is best suited for an Individual or family that is looking to just relax at one property with great views , dabble in luxury (there are a few options) , do a little bit of sightseeing (all nature related) and experience the architecture of the town itself. It’s non-touristy.. None of the places we visited were crowded or dirty. The town sleeps by 10pm.

we spent 2 days in the off season (mid feb 2024) which was perfect, no overcrowding, mad traffic and great weather. We stayed 1 night in a studio apartment and 1 night at a small guest house both were perfectly maintained and very nice accommodations well worth the price.
check the weather and go in the off season to enjoy and relax in NE as it should be done!

Nuwara Eliya is gorgeous.
Nuwara Eliya is gorgeous. But the hotel we booked, we stayed with difficulty for one night, then left at dawn. We then stayed at for a week at another place, which was lovely.
Nuwara Eliya is a very beautiful hill station. Nature has been preserved well. Old style buildings add to the beauty of nature. Especially noteworthy are: Post Office Building, old heritage buildings, Victoria Park. Amazing waterfall near railway station. Station is quite far from town. Nuwara Elia is well served by buses from almost all parts of Sri Lanka.
Travel by rail is very pretty, but returning by night train is not advisable: the train is always late, and what they call "sleeper" is actually a reclining seat.
The location was excellent, very close to the city center and few key attractions. The staff were also very helpful with finding our interests and suggesting other places that would interest us. Food provided was very tasty and plentiful. Also, every auto and cab driver in the city knew the place by name, so we did not have to explain the route or location to anyone. Would love to visit the place again and would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Nuwara Eliya cuz I doubt you will find better value anywhere else.
The location of the hotel is slightly away from the main strip which means it has beautiful Mountain views and feels really relaxing. We wasn’t sure whether to stop in Nuwara Eliya but we loved the area and this hotel so deffinitly was worthwhile!
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay even better.
The beds were the comfiest we’ve experienced in Sri Lanka and we had a great nights sleep
We recommend to try food and drink at Themparadu which is a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
The grounds, building and views are amazing! The indoor swimming pool was serene - perfect temperature and enjoyed stunning viewing outside. The staff are incredibly attentive and they made it extra special for my mum’s 60th birthday. They made a lovely birthday cake and surprised us at dinner which was special.
The buffet was very good, lots of choice and quality of food was excellent!
Would 100% recommend if you are stopping by Nuwara Eliya as it’s their perfect stop over hotel :)
We couldn’t stay at the Clovelly Bungalow because of emergency repairs to our room so we were accommodated in the Victoria Bungalow for one night and then the Golden Ridge Hotel. Staff did try their best, but it all felt a little impersonal and we were disappointed. We had specifically chosen the Clovelly because of its small size and heritage atmosphere and while the facilities at the Golden Ridge are nice, we hadn’t expected to spend our holiday in a modern hotel with massive crowds.
Cozy cottage nestled away in the mountains of Nuwara Eliya.
It was a very scenic and picturesque location from any window you looked out of. Couldn’t find a single insect in the room or the property, which is difficult to achieve based on our other stays around Sri Lanka. The materials and design used around the property add to the ambience with, wooden flooring and walls, stone wallpaper in the bathroom, sloped ceiling. Breakfast was very tasty and filling.
The hotel was ideally situated in Nuwara Eliya and superb.peaceful location it was convenient to explore nearby attractions while also providing a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle.the staff deserve a special mention.their warmth and genuine hospitality made us feel like my second home throughout our stay.without doubt one of my favourite a budget accommodation during my stay…..
The host (aka the boss of restaurant) and the staff were friendly and always ready to help.
Our room is cute, it's behind the restaurant but privacy is protected.
There's no fan in the room, but the weather at nuwara eliya was cool at night. They provided a thick blanket.
5-8minutes walking distance to the center bus stop. Very strategic location, easy to get food near by.
The room is outstanding, featuring a TV with a wide variety of channels. The bed is exceptionally comfortable, and the room itself is spotlessly clean. What's particularly notable is the bathroom's water pressure, which is impressively high—unlike anything I've experienced in other hotels in Nuwara Eliya. Additionally, this place is safe to stay in.
The best of this hotel was the tour guide I took for my day in nuwara Eliya. Ranijith +94 77 163 8504. I had an amazing day visiting everything around with him. Wonderful guide. Totally recomend.
The hotel was on the Main Street. It had everything basic and a good shower.
The room was clean, comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was buffet style and really tasty which had some varieties as well. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting nuwara eliya
Great place to stay in Nuwara Eliya!! The most friendly and helpful host, extremely comfortable beds and warm blankets and the best hot shower I had in Sri Lanka. Walking distance to the Grand hotel, park en city center. Would definitely recommend staying here.
Omg, the view is so nice from the room. And the room is huge, there are three bedrooms and one living room, kitchen and dining table. From my bed I can watch the sunset. I have the best time in Nuwara Eliya here. It’s just pure wonderful.
Recently opened hotel with beautiful decor, high quality furnishing and excellent rooms. Very attentive staff and a quiet location, several minutes walk from Gregory Lake, close to the centre of Nuwara Eliya.
Staff was super friendly and always engaged! Also the premises were really nice as well and the hotel‘s location is in walking distance to Nuwara Eliya‘s main sights. WiFi was working but not really fast.
Very good location with great well come. And it is located close to the nuwara eliya town. We were there for one night and the lady who was look after us was very good. And we enjoyed our stay.🌝🌝🌝🌝
Clean, spacious cozy rooms. Right in the middle of Nuwara Eliya town.
Very polite and helpful staff.
We had breakfast, and it was servers as a buffet.
Food was tasty and had several varieties.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was very good. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Nuwara eliya
The location is good, with a great view of Nuwara Eliya.
The room was spacious and the balcony provided a fine view of the lake
The bathroom included hot water
They accept card payment
The best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka, so far. The property is absolutely gorgeous. A trip to Nuwara Eliya isn’t complete without at least one night at this beautifully restored hotel.
