Kyoto is a deep cultural city with beautiful mountains around, the roads of city is more squarish lay out, a bit easier than the roads in Tokyo. I do like to visit their Temples mostly the world heritages, admire Kinkaku-ji Temple, it is not only the magnificent golden Temple with the reflection in the water, but also the story of this temple and breath-taking view of the gardens around! I also loved Arashiyama area the sceneries and facilities, it is a huge scenic place with temples, gardens, river and mountain, lots of restaurants. It's impossible to look just couple of hours, even spend a day there you will be busy with the things you like to do. Kyoto also easy to take subways, but you need to carefully choose the subway lines. I normally eat just around restaurants nearby the hotel I stay. Next time I go, I will check Good Map first to know exactly the best way to do things.

Kyoto is a manageable size for a three night stay (including a day trip to Nara). The Sky hop on hop off bus provides an easy way to see the many interesting sights such as the Golden Temple and Imperial Palace. Loved the Geisha and Maiko dance performance at the arts theatre

Kyoto trains were well signed (even in English) just pay attention to renovations and moved gates. Kyoto itself is magnificent. Every view is a photo worthy shot. People everywhere were kind and helpful. Favorite places? Fushimi Inari Shrine, the Miyaki-Odori show (live theatre once a year) canal boat rides.

Kyoto is much easier to negotiate for non Japanese speaking people e.g. elderly/ not good with IT/ low mobility/ families with small children visitors. It could be the base stay from where all short overnight or day trips could be made to south western Japan. locals are much more helpful and the local signage and travelling is much better than Tokyo. There are more attractions nearby.

You can never find another place like Kyoto.

You can never find another place like Kyoto. The beautiful ancient architecture mixing with modern equipments. Sakura tree surrounded by buildings. As one of the most ancient cities in Japan, Kyoto is showing both its beauty and ambitious to people. Simply waking in the city at the dawn is enjoyful. Getting around Kyoto is easy if you have a ICOCA - spells like "go with me" in Japanese. However, eating in Kyoto (or almost any other city in Japan) is not easy if you don't know how to make a reservation, so at least have a plan for your food.

The location is convenient, only few minutes by feet from the train station. The personal was very nice and helpful, they even support in restaurant reservation. The room was clean, spacious and the bed were very comfortable. There is an Onsen directly in the hotel that can be booked twice a day and privatize so we enjoyed it a lot. On top there is some bento breakfast box each day available which is a nice attention. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend ! It was our best hotel in our whole two weeks in Japan !

This was the best hostel I have ever stayed at (and I've probably stayed at over 5 hostels lol). The location was very central. 5 min walk to stores, 10 min walk to Gion, 2 to get to Sanjo station. The elevator goes straight down to Sanjo station. The location is secure. Mostly accessable by key card. The facilities are clean and inviting. The place is very cute! My sister and I got our own room, and the third bed was used for luggage. For the price, it was very worth it.

The hotel was located at the prime location within Kyoto’s Gion. The spaces were impeccably clean and our room was very comfortable. It was also nicely decorated, in Japanese style. The hotel has an onsen, which is quite a relaxing experience after a long day of walking and exploring Kyoto. However, the absolute best part about our stay was very attentive staff who put efforts to ensure our luggages reach us at our upcoming destination. We would love to stay here again.

It was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip in Japan. Its aesthetic was amazing, combining traditional and modern interior design. The room was super clean and comfortable. The stuff was polite and helpful. The location was very convenient for sightseeing at Gion and Northern Higashiyama. Even if it’s not central, it offers a free shuttle bus hourly to Kyoto station that we used everyday. We’d definitely choose this hotel again in the future.

One of the best and most family friendly hotel we have stayed in. The hotel is very spacious for a 4-member family and equipped with a small kitchen. Their guest room had complimentary coffee/tea. The location is quiet, and relatively accessible to most tourist spots in Kyoto. There are English speaking receptionists and all staff are friendly, helpful and kind. We had an excellent 2-night stay. I highly recommend this hotel for families or groups.

Room was great as it was just the right size for a couple and the best part was we had a washing machine. The room was somewhat traditional but a must during your stay to Japan. Beds a little hard. Bathroom a little small but fine for 3 nights. It was boutique style. Location was within walking distance to Gion district & Nishiki Markets. I had a comfortable stay in this hotel. Check in and check out was a breeze. But the best part is the location. Walking distance to downtown Kyoto - Nishiki Market, Pontocho Alley, Gion District are few minutes walk away. Also near train stations. The hotel is tucked in an alley so it is quiet but at the same time near the main street which is lined with shops and restaurants.
