Combine science and candy making and learn how to make these amazingly fun candy treats from Harry Potter’s Honeydukes in this single session class!

Class experience

This class is intended to be a fun class where students make their own "magical" candy that cannot be found anywhere else but in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the candy store, Honeydukes!

Students will need for day of class: -1/4 cup Sprite or 7-Up -One heaping teaspoon of PLAIN gelatin (Knox brand or great value, for ex. NOT JELLO!) -4 cups of powdered sugar -pinch of salt -Kool-Aid powder...either packets or tub -food coloring, gel preferable -2 or more packets of Pop rocks (optional..you can use whatever you have on hand, for ex, sprinkles) -citric acid (optional) -Kitchen tools needed will be a microwave safe container, a microwave or other heat source, a few spoons or spatulas, measuring cups/spoons, mixing bowl with a stand-mixer or hand-held mixer, a few kitchen bowls, a couple of small plates or bowls and a sheet pan covered with wax paper or parchment paper to dry the candy on.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents may need to help smaller children do the mixing of the candy as they do need to use either a hand or stand mixer.  In addition smaller children may need help measuring the needed ingredients and making the candy.
