This large round platter decorated with six happy Snowman is perfect for serving your large winter roast, or a displaying your home baked goodies. It measures 15" in diameter, so it is plenty large enough for serving a crowd. It features a blue background and six snow people, one wearing yellow hat and mittens, one with a broom, one with a bird house, one with a tree bough, one with a bouquet of flowers, and one cheering for a favorite green and gold team.
The process of low fire ceramics involves pouring the mold and then cleaning the green ware, which is what the molded item is called after it is removed and dried. Sometimes the item is painted on the green ware before it is fired in the kiln. After the first firing, it is now called bisque. It is on the bisque that other paint products may be applied for further decoration. After this the item receives three layer of glaze, and it is fired in the kiln again. It is the glaze that provides the shiny finish. Items which are to be used for food items must use a food safe glaze. This item was poured, painted, glazed and fired by me in my studio, and great effort was taken to make it a quality item, but minor imperfections may be present.
This item is food safe, and although it is dishwasher safe, it is highly recommended that this item be hand washed. Plus its probably too big for your dishwasher.
