Inspired by some of my loved ones around me and the beauty of nature during a trip to the desert, I knew that I needed to be part of the change. I craved a simpler but more intentional life, where my surroundings were chosen for their utility, quality, and beauty. The kind of stuff that created a "captivating chaos", even if something was left out of place or my little son got his hands on it.
Along with minimizing the number of my possessions grew a need to be more conscious with what I was leaving in terms of legacy on this planet. And up until now, it seemed like a lot of waste which could not be easily reused or transformed. This started me on a zero waste journey, one that came with trips to the farmer's market, the smell of fresh bread, and that of bringing my own containers and bags with me everywhere. I admit, I am not nearly where I want to be yet, but starting this company is part of the commitment to grown in knowledge and resolve.
As much as I love jars and glass containers, bags are just easier to "tuck" into a backpack, tote, purse, or even the diaper bag. I found that these minimal bento bags are just the thing I was missing in my arsenal of zero-waste staples. Linen bags that are essential to keeping that "crinkle" in the crust of fresh bread without letting it dry out, cotton bags that are handy for packing fruit, nuts, and veggies, and canvas bags for storing bigger items and containing some of the mess that comes with life.
I hope that LEKKO life goods will motivate you to live life a little lighter- with less waste, and fewer things keeping you down.
