Among the many treasures in the State Rooms are the famous Marlborough Tapestries (the 'Victories Series') and the magnificent Long Library with over 10,000 books!

Set amongst over 2000 acres of extraordinary landscaped Parkland and Formal Gardens, the inspired work of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown has created a lasting legacy in his ten-year tenure at Blenheim Palace.

The creative master landscaper constructed the Great Lake and planted thousands of trees, engineering a landscape that appears natural but is actually 'contrived to pleasing effect'.

Availability:

Open daily all year round, excluding 25th December and 21-23 May 2018.

Opening Times:

All opening times are subject to change. Please check the attraction’s website before visiting for up to date information on your chosen visit date. Generally opening times consist of:

  • The Palace is open 20 November - 10 February 2018 10.30am – 4.30pm (last entry 3.45pm). 11 February - 28 October 2018 10am – 5.30pm
  • The Park is open daily from 9am – 6.30pm (or dusk if earlier)
  • The Formal Gardens is open 20 November - 10 February 2018 last entry will be at 3.45pm, closing at 4pm. 11 February - 28 October 10am – 6pm
  • The Pleasure Gardens is open daily from 10.30am – 3.30pm (last admission 3pm). The Marlborough Maze and Lavender Garden will remain open daily, while the Butterfly House will open once again 11 February - 28 October 2018 10am – 6pm (last entry 5.30pm). The train will run on weekends only except for school holidays, 11 February - 28 October running 11am – 5.30pm from the Pleasure Gardens Station.

Disabled Access:

  • Where possible, Blenheim Palace makes provisions to ensure the site is accessible for wheelchair, mobility scooter and buggy users.
  • Ramps and a lift are in place plus ground floor toilets.
  • An alternative entrance to the Formal Gardens is available, but some of the Park walks cover uneven terrain.
  • Unfortunately the 'Untold Story' experience and Private Apartment tours are accessed via stairs and therefore limited in accessibility. An alternative to the 'Untold Story' experience can be found in our Indoor Cinema.
  • Guide Dogs are permitted in the Palace

Photography:

  • Photography inside the Palace is permitted without the use of a flash to prevent damage to artefacts.
  • Tripods and selfie sticks are not permitted inside the Palace.
  • Commercial photography or filming is not permitted onsite without prior permission.
  • Filming with a drone is not permitted onsite without prior consent and approval of the necessary insurance and licence documents.

Blenheim Palace sits at the edge of the picturesque town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire and is a 20 minute journey from the city of Oxford.

The Palace is also within easy reach of central London and Birmingham. Both cities are around one and a half hours away by car.

Parking

  • All parking on site is free.
  • A car park for Blue Badge holders can be found directly outside the Palace.
  • Overflow parking during busy events is located in a field ten minutes' walk from the Palace entrance.
